Hobart LXiH error E4 AND a part makes noise when off

Just installed a used Hobart LXiH. Repeatedly get error E4. Have tried all 5 of the solutions from the manual. Also get E4 when trying to Delime. ALSO (related?) there is a part that makes noise when the unit is OFF. The part is located on the outside, at the back, extreme top right corner. It has brass conical shape under the lid, a solenid? attached, a connection going forward under the top panel, and 2 wires going down to the vicinity of the water level probes. The noise is a brief, gurgling lasting about a second, repeating every 10-15 seconds or so. What is wrong, and how do I fix it please?

Drain Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.

Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller

The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Circulation and Drain Pump Motor

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the motor sound, it's likely that the circulation and drain pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the motor will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

Testimonial: "Thank you for all the leads dealing with noise. Unfortunately, they all refer to noise made DURING operation. The noise I reported occurs when the unit is OFF, which is really odd. If I am reading the parts diagram properly, I think it may be the vacuum breaker. Can you possibly tell me under what circumstances the vacuum breaker would make noise when the unit is turned OFF? Thank you!"

SOURCE: the hobart lxih is stuck in delime.

To reset or clear delime message, on control board there are 3 buttons. from power off, drawer open, manget on door switch, door closed, hold PROG on board and press the ON key on keyboard. pressing select moves to next poption, up arrow increases setting. step through select until you see delime, settings for LXi are de for disabled, and 1 through 65= x100 cycles. rg if set at 5, after 500 cycles the message apears. To keep the settings and clear the message a delime sequence needs to be run precisely as described.

DO NOT MIX DELIME ACID, RINSE AGENTS OR OTHER ACID WITH BLEACH PRODUCTS, OR HAZAEDOUS GASES WILL FORM.

With machine off, remove rack , close door, press and hold wash/delime key and press ON. Delime will be lit on display, release wash/delime key, and let machine fill. you should then see ADD and DELIME on the display, open the door and add the delime agent following supplier's instructions precisely. close the door, press wash, delime will flash. After delime is complete power is turned off. Inspect the machine and repeat if necessary.
DO NOT LEAVE THE ACID IN ANY LONGER THAN RECOMMEDED.

SOURCE: I have a Hobart modle LXih that leaks from near

Sounds like you're referring to the vacuum breaker. It's very easy and cheap to rebuild, if it'll come apart - sometimes they're very difficult to unscrew the top and the whole vacuum breaker must be replaced.

Obtain a rebuild kit for the vacuum breaker from Hobart (about $5). Remove the screw from the top of the vacuum breaker and take off the chrome cap. Use a cresent wrench or channel lock pliers to remove the now accessible upper section of the vacuum breaker. Clean all scale from the brass piece you removed, particularly from the center pin and the surface at the bottom of the removed brass piece, where the threads start. This surface is the surface where the moving float's rubber seal will come up to and form a watertight seal. If you're unsure what surface I'm referring to, place the white plastic float onto the removed brass piece and take note of there the orange seal of the float contacts the brass - this is what must be clean, straight and flat to make a good seal with the new float. The center pin must be clean so that the float easily moves up and down on the pin without binding. Also clean all scale from inside the body of the vacuum breaker, although not as critical as long as the float will move freely inside the body of the vacuum breaker. Once it is cleaned, reassemble and you're done.

P.S. it's possible you may be able to stop the leak simply by disassembling and cleaning the scale as described above, but considering the cost of the rebuild kit, you should replace the float from the rebuild kit as the float's seal shrinks over time, which may in fact be your problem instead of scale deposits, or both.

E4 error after attempting to fill and get to temp

This is what I found for the E4 code...hope this helps...and thanks for rating my effort...The Fang.

Machine won't fill or won't fill high enough(LX18, LX30 display shows "E0," "E2," "E3," or "E4")

1.Low water pressure — check for clogged hose strainer; check that site water pressure meets minimum flow pressures.
2.Make sure probes are clean.
3.No water pressure — main water supply valves may not be working.
4.Drain valve open - turn machine off to drain machine, then on. Repeat twice (this assists in clearing any drain valve obstructions). Wait for machine to reach READY mode and press WASH. Slowly open door several seconds later and note water level. Close door; 30 seconds later, open door slowly and check that water level is the same as it was. If not, repeat the
OFF-ON procedure.
5. Delime machine.

Hobart LX 30 P2 Error and unit overflowing!

Hi drogers77,

I'm not a Hobart technician, but here what I founded in my manual for the LX30 error message:

LX18 / LX30 display shows E0, E2, E3 or E4

1. Low water pressure - check for clogged hose strainer; check that site water pressure meets minimum flow pressures.

2. Make sure probes are clean

3. No water pressure - main water supply valves may not be working

4. Drain valve open - turn machine OFF to drain machine, then ON. Repeat twice (this assists in clearing any drain valve obstructions). Wait for machine to reach READY mode and press WASH. Slowly open door several seconds later and note water level. Close door; 30 seconds later, open door slowly and check that water level is the same as it was. If not, repeat the OFF-ON procedure. If problem persists, call your local Hobart Service Office.

5. Delime machine.

Hope it will help you.

Water is not to top sensor in alotted time.
Top sensor is in right rear corner, and is the upper of the two. Check the connector to the probe on the outside at the back. (sometimes gets wet fro vacuum breaker leaking when dirty or low flow pressure. Machine needs 20 psi flow rate
