Is that an OS message "Startup Repair"? If so, the Administrator password should work.

SOURCE: startup repair won't repair

It sounds like your leaving your Installation Disk in the drive. Take that out and run safe mode, then just plug in your flash drive as normal and it should detect it and you can copy your files to it. If not, use s CD and burn the files you need on them then you can proceed with Wiping the drive. If this fails, Install XP but there is a option to not have the drive formatted thus this keeps all files in tact. Reinstall XP like this, take the files you need and then reformat and reinstall XP and you should be fine. After doing all this, run a virus scan and have it run regularly because it may have been a virus that caused the problem to begin with.

Hope This Helps

You need someone else with a computer. Download NT Password deleter here:

http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

Press F12 on startup to get the boot options, select yr DVD/CD drive and this will reset your password.

Alternatively find a local PC repair guy. If they're any good they can do it in 5 minutes for a nominal charge. If they try to charge lots of money walk away. It's an easy fix if you know what you're doing.

I need to reset the administrator password for bios for model dell inspiron 8600

To reset the Bios Password do the following.

If you know the Bios Password then when you boot the machine look for which key is required to press to get you into the Bios or System Setup. Once inside you can change the password if you know the current password.

If you don't know the Bios Password, then you will need to unplug the laptop and you will need to remove the CMOS Battery from the laptop that is on the motherboard. Some computer models make getting to the CMOS battery simple by remove the Hard Drive or Memory Chip door on the bottom of the laptop and voila there it is. I fyou can get to the CMOS Battery remove it and let the laptop sit a couple of hours before replacing it. This clears the computer's memory of everything including the BIOS Password. Most manufacturers make it a difficult task which means you will have to disassemble your laptop to get to it. If you are uncomfortable doing that then get a quote from your local computer repair shops, then check the guys out at: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com They will repair it and ship it back by Fedex or UPS and most times it's cheaper than any quote you received even with the shipping included.

VAIO PASSWORD

it may not have a password set.
try just pressing enter.
if no password set then entering one would be wrong.
if it has no password then it would accept the blank space left when you just press enter and continue.
if not, let me know and i will try to run you through a few loopholes to get you past it.
