Set is 5 years old and convergence went out in lower left corner. Had the convergence IC's replaced by 2 different techs as well as a thorough checkout of the board. All diagnostics checked out per spec. Picture was slightly better, but could not adjust convergence past course in user and service modes. Both techs said the whole board needs to be replaced due to no additional serviceable ICs.
Panasonic does not offer the board for sale any longer. There are a few shops that will rebuild the old board, but prices are ~ $500 with limited warranty and no guaranties the set will be the same as before the problem. Should I cut my losses and toss it? I can't believe a 5 year old set can not be repaired properly.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- red IC in particular This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks! See link for more detail http://www.ehow.com/how_4575598_yourself-projection-tv-repair-convergence.html
Blue wave coming up frpm the bottom of the screen on the lower left symptom is for busted convergence IC,you must replaced this IC in order that will works better again.STK 392-xxx ICs and it's associated resistor,this resistor automatically change value,can caused truoble even though you change the ICs.If you bring this to a service center they cost you $600 to $700,but if you buy the repair kit you can save more,don't wory it is very easy because there is intallation guide including in the repair kit. Feel free to ask whatever the result... click the link for sample picture guide step by step installation;
The leading cause of this type of failure is convergence.. Replace both convergence Ic's Stk392-110 and check all 2.2 ohm resistors in that circuit... This repair on this particular unit is fairly easy because the convergence amps are mounted in such a way to easily remove the left board for field servicing...
Have a great day!
It sounds like the convergence amplifier IC for the red crt is at fault. To check this, go into your user menu and pull up the red convergence. Try to move it up/down or side to side(it doesnt matter). If it moves up and down, then the vertical amp is working. Likewise if it moves side to side, then the horizontal part of the IC is working. If it dosen't move at all, or only moves up/down or side to side, then the IC is bad.
There are 2 large IC's on the chassis, mounted to large heatsinks. They have STK392-110 or some variation of an STK392. If yow feel that the IC is bad, change the ic BEFORE you go into the service mode, as you wont need it if the ic is bad.
To get into theservice mode:
1 make sure tv is in cable mode
2 set sleep timer to 30 minutes
3 tune to channel 124
4 use volume down on front of set to turn volume all the way down. ( writing will appear in the top left corner).
5 use remote control and press the power button.
6 the 7 button on the remote will put it convergence mode.
