Question about Washing Machines
I was cleaning my kv1100hxe and when putting it back together I think I messed something up. The bearing for the spool will slip out and the spool is then not connected and the spool doesnt spin. I have it positioned right I'm pretty sure, but something is wrong.

Check the belt. it may be broken or, it may have slipped of the pulley or drive motor. if the belt is fine, replace the motor.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.
First, see the Sears parts site for your washerhttp://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.24964300&pathTaken=partSearch:
and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.
If you look at the section on "Machine Base Parts" you'll see a number of springs and vibration pads.
It's possible that one or more of the springs or pads has come loose or broken.
In order to get to them you have to remove the cabinet.
Here is a description of how to do it.
Also see the Whirlpool Service Manual for top load washers. It has a troubleshooting section that describes the reasons for excessive walking or vibration.

SOURCE: very loud when in the
yes your right the main bearing is gone and needs replaced, its not a easy job and unless you have a garage that you can work in then i would not recomend doing this job in the house as it means, stripping down the whole machine and then trying to remove the old bearing which is a days work itself, then replacing with the new one.I will leave the decision up to you.please rate this answer many thanks.adrian,,,,,,,
