Just see on the back side of the router. There would be a button of "Reset". Press it. Now try to access . It would work.

I cant login to D-link-i have forgotten my password and i have tried 'admin' as username & 'password, admin' for the password and also tried leaving it blank, as well as the pin on the bottom of the...

The default D-link router login is admin with no password. With that said, you probably cannot login to your router because D-link requires you to change this default login the very first time you login to set it up. If you have a router you setup a long time ago and have forgotten its password and settings, you will likely have to reset D-link router password.

If you look at the back of your D-link router, you will see a pin-hole. Inside that hole is a button that resets the router. To perform the reset, insert the end of a paperclip in the hole and depress the button for about ten seconds. Leave the router on during this time. It will reboot by itself and the WAN light will begin flashing on the front.

When it stops, the router is reset and you can login to it using your web browser. Just type http://192.168.0.1 and click enter. You should see the D-link login window. Type admin without a password and you will be presented with the default d-link settings again. Configure a new password and wireless settings and your router will now be accessible again

Netgear wireless router wgr614?

If you cannot login to the router's configuration URL, then you can reset the Netgear back to the factory defaults by powering up the router and press the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router until the LEDs turn on, then release the RESET button and wait for the router to reboot.
Then connect a LAN cable from the computer to the router open an Internet Browser and enter the router's configuration URL
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default password = password.
You can now configure the wireless settings, Eg. SSID, encryption etc.

Manual for WBR14-G2 router [6.2 MB] in pdf format:
http://www.smc.com/files/AG/MN_SMCWBR14-G2.pdf

Keeping others from connecting to your router:
1. Have an "wired only" router login access or for this router "change and disable your SSID". This way you avoid that others can login to
to the router changing your settings: See page 48 of the manual.
1.1 Wireless Network Name (SSID): change the default name SMC
to "any private name" ( and remember for later login )
1.2 Broadcast Wireless Network Name: change from default ENABLE
to DISABLE .

2. Make a secure wireless encryption key for your connection:
see page 87.
2.1 For most secure key select WPA / WPA2 only and SAVE SETTINGS .
2.2 See page 91 for entering and saving your secure key: the password
that must be entered to get access to the router.

Disable firewall on your computer. It seems that it's blocking you from getting in the setup page. you may also try using another computer to login just to isolate your problem

Need help

Is your laptop working completely -- including to the internet to access web pages with its current router attachment?

Is the laptop connected wirelessly or by a wire?

Is the desktop connected with a wire or wirelessly?

Was the desktop connected to another device before?

Was the desktop configured to login before especially if it was not connected to the router before?

Did you configure the router to do the login that used to be done by the desktop before, if that was the case?

If the router is now doing the login did you configure the desktop not to login if it is no longer needed?

Did you configure IP addresses, subnet masks, gateway addresses or DNS addresses into the router before?

Does having the router mean these should be removed and the desktop switched to accept dymanic addressing from the router?

These are quite a few questions and you may not be able to answer them all. Answer what you can in a comment to this issue and I will attempt to determine a plan to get your desktop connected.
