How do I unlock my HDD? I forgot my password My

You need to prepare:
1:A blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive
2.A computer which can link to internet
3.A program called Windows Password Recovery 6.0 also you might try
Save, delete, and restore your BIOS settings
you will have to burn it to a disk as an ISO
UBCD4Win is a bootable CD which contains software that allows you to repair, restore, or diagnose almost any computer problem also has a bios reset tool which can remove your password and bios password
hope this helps

New WD Passport Essential drive will not format or allow reinstall of software - shows zero space -

Is this drive fresh out of the box new or had you already set it up once?

If it's new, it's a dud return it for a replacement. If you've already set it up once and opted to encrypt it with a password, it's locked and waiting for you to install the encryption software and enter your password before it will unlock. Plugging it back into the machine you used to set it up and entering your password will open it and you can use the passport utilities to remove the encryption which will then allow you to reformat the drive.

Hope this helps FixYa,

My WD passport is requiring that I select a password and/or certificate to encrypt every file that I put on it. It didn't do this before, I was able to copy and paste docs right into it, but now it's...

It may be something your antivirus is doing to keep from transferring a virus from the Passport to the Computer or vice versa.

Always be certain to run your antivirus on all periferal storage devices.

Im forget mein passport

f you cannot boot the ThinkPad, you will have to reset the IBM ThinkPad password via hardware.

If only the power-on password is set, do the following to remove the power-on password.

1. Power off the computer
2. Remove the DIMM cover on the bottom side of the computer.
3. Short-circuit the two password pads or put a jumper on the contacts to short the circuit.
4. Under the short-circuit condition, power on the computer and wait until the POST ends. After the POST ends, the password prompt does not appear. The power-on password is removed.
5. Reinstall the DIMM cover.

If both the power-on password and the supervisor password are set, do the following to remove the passwords:

1. Power on the computer by pressing and holding F1.
2. Enter the supervisor password. The Easy-Setup menu appears.
3. Click on the Password icon.
4. Click on the Power on icon.
5. Enter the supervisor password and press the Space bar.
6. Press Enter twice.
7. Click on Exit; then click on Restart.

Please rate my response.

Can't load a 13 gig avi file onto wd drive with 90 gigs free

Typically this is because there aren't large enough fragments to load. Run defrag several times and try again. You might also run the cleanup program and remove any temporary files, temporary internet files and anything in your waste basket before you run defrag.

Please let me know how this turns out.
