Question about Lowrance Elite 5 X Color Sonar

Open Question

On my last fishing trip, i could see the bottom perfect, bait fish, fish near the bottom, etc, but, my brush piles, which are rather large, approx, 30 ft dia and 20 ft tall, would not show up. I had to use the Elite 5 GPS to get to the spot and then identify the brush pile with the X-50 on my trolling motor. What could cause this? I tried adjusting the sensitivity.

SOURCE: got a HDS 5 and im getting bad or false on my sonar when traveling showing fish and structure. When trying to hold ground and im backing up it doesn't even read?i have it on auto sensitivity

Check the mounting and cable connection of the transducer on the stern. If loose will tilt during movement, in reverse wakes from the prop. CAREFULLY check unit during these conditions. The transducer needs to be completely submerged. Good Luck.

Hi, if this happens when stationery check the angle of the transducer, if it only happens when moving check the height of the transducer also. Regards Phil

SOURCE: how do i install elite 5 dsi on 14' tiller boat

Install the battery cables to the battery for the gas motor.

Here is a transducer installation guide for Lowrance, this is pretty standard for all transducers. Pay attention to how the boat sits in the water when trolling for level setting to match in water.

How to buy a fishing reel

Depends on what type of fishing your doing. Out of the two the bait caster is the more challenging to do because you control the line going out. That is good for fishing banks, logged areas, spinner bait. If you just want to cast with bobber go with open or closed reel. Hope that helps.

How to use the floats

Add the floaters to your bait sac to lift off the bottom away from weeds, rocks, and snags and raise bait sacs to fish feeding levels. Replace approximately 25% of bait with floaters.

How much should I spend on food for my fish?

I spend 30 dollars a month on food for my fish. I buy every month a large bag of cichlid and a large bag of pellet and also frozen food. I'm not buying the fancy brands out there cause I think it's not really worth it, so that saves my at least 20 dollars a month.

How to fish the fish on fishing hole?

To fish on the Fishing Hole just go into the small building and pay to fish, the guide will explain how to do everything. You can fish without paying, but you won't catch fish near as big or diverse as the ones while on the boat. Just get some bait off the side of the small building (the beehive - knock it down and take the larva) and fish with your own baited fishing rod. When you cast the rod, wait until the hook is tugged down by a fish, then pull it up. Btw, you can obtain a glass bottle this way, there's one in a closed off area of the pond beside the small bridge.

I need directions on how to reel in a fish

The key is to watch the "fish mood"... watch for a "Yellow Heart" on the top of the screen as you reel in, this means a fish is lured by your bait... When you see this, stop reeling with the "A" button and begin using the control pad... up or down will just bounce the bait... it's a little counter-intuitive to "real" fishing, but if you stop reeling when you see this "Yellow Heart" and simply wait for the fish to swim around your bait, then bounce the bait with the up or down control buttons, the fish will usually take the bait. Then simply reel them in being careful not to reel too fast... using the "A" button, don't let the meter go to high or too low... simply let off the "A" button if the meter gets to high or low... eventually you'll be able to reel them in by pressing and releasing the "A" button. Likewise with the "yellow heart", also watch for a "red exclamation", this indicates the fish is trying to bite the bait. Use the same method simply waiting for the fish. If you never see either of the two fish moods (yellow heart or red exclamation), then you'll need to either change direction of your throws, or change bait. I've conquered a few levels with this method after many hours of not even a bite.

On pft for the ds, how do you actually CATCH the

It took me a while to figure this game out. I didn't even hook a fish for 2 days (about 4 hrs). Simply reeling in the line while glimpses of fish swam by wasn't my idea of a good fishing game. I looked for any reviews that gave me a clue how to play this game. There were NONE. I finally figured out on my own a basic strategy that seems to be working for me. Initially you can only fish in one location, one lake. And the object is to get a total catch of 5 lbs of bass or more. You can see this on the initial screen (it gives you your goal to get to the next level). If you never see either of the two fish moods (yellow heart or red exclamation), then you'll need to either change direction of your throws, or change bait. I've conquered a few levels with this method after many hours of not even a bite. It's a shame this game doesn't give you any of these hints. And even with the catches, the game is still quite lame. Graphics stink, realism is non-existent, and the game is counter-intuitive and though not quite as boring once you start to catch fish, it's still just a bit more exciting than watching paint dry. Hope this helps someone out there that was as lost as I was, and please, do yourself a favor if you haven't bought this game yet... don't.
