Reinstall the sound hardware, by uninstalling it in the device manager, and then reboot. DO NOT remove the drivers.

How do i lock fn key on my keyboard

First, examin your keyboard for a F-Lock key. If no key exists
Check in the Control Panel to see if you can disable the keyboard's FN key. If you cannot find a resolution within the Control Panel try looking on the Ease Of Access > Keyboard screen to see if an FN disable option exists.

If all else fails check the manufactures website for documentation and user guide for your specifics keyboard guide. The documentation should provide a HotKey to turn this off or tell you if this option is even available.

I'd try another keyboard to make sure it isn't a stuck key and if it still does it somehow the space bar is putting the pc into hibernate or sleep mode. For that you need to look at your power settings under control panel and just disable the mode. It is not normally used on desktops but it still puts them to sleep when it is enabled. I have a dedicated sleep button on my keyboard I cannot disable. And once every so often I grab my keyboard the wrong way and manage to shut it down.

Computer froze and can not move the mouse arrow. I did try to restart as well but arrow will not move

Does the keyboard work?

Try putting the mouse in another USB port, or even better try another mouse. You might need to let it "install" the mouse first, this can take a minute or so when you boot up, so all you need to do is turn the PC on with the new mouse plugged in and leave it for a while, then try to use it again.

If the keyboard isn't working either, then it sounds like the Operating System is a bit broken! contact me and i'll try to help you fix it.

I want to disable the touchpad on my Inspiron 1545 but I cannot even locate anything that has the word "touchpad" in it. It certainly isn't included in my Device Directory. So, do I need to...

Hello, there should be a shortcut key on your keyboard that will do that for you. It should be one of the F# keys. You should be able to hit Fn key and then one of the F# keys that will shut off your touchpad. You can also look for "smartpad" or something like that. You may have an icon next to your clock that controls the touchpad. You can turn it off there.

Thanks for using FixYa!

I cannot scan

You shouldn't get a different value even if you read it multiple times... unless it isn't configured properly. If it is a RS232 interface, you have to ensure it has the correct baud rate and data bits.

Perhaps tell us more about the barcode reader. 1) Interface type. 2) model#

It sounds as though off hand it isn't working properly. Does the value you get seem close to the actual barcode? Are the numbers displayed on the barcode?
Are you using a proper USB/PS2 adapter? It will be one with both mouse and keyboard sockets, if not be made of cord, with a box in the middle, with a USB cord on one end, and PS2 mous and keyboard socket on the other.

I am trying to record sounds from my keyboard into my MPC 1000. I have what I think is the proper set-up. MIDI sync...softthru as track...etc. Problem is when I set it up I can play one sound and record...

It is not clear whether you are recording audio or MIDI. If you recorded Audio samples, you will get the same sounds back even if you change the voice on the keyboard.

If you record a MIDI sequence, and then play it back you will STILL get the same sounds UNLESS you also record the MIDI voice or patch changes so the voice is changed as it occured when you recorded it. Usually there are options taht you can enable or disable voice changes.

Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard

Normal 0 Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start flashing.
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the receiver.

If the MOUSE isn’t working, push the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the mouse to connect to the receiver. Then they should work okay.
Hope this helps. Bud
