Question about Dyson DC15 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Brushbar button won't fully depress - can't turn OFF the brushbar.

I have no problem with the brushbar rotating, etc. as it should, but when I want to turn OFF the brushbar to vacuum a bare floor or throw rug, the button will not fully depress & therefore the brushbar will not stop spinning. Help! :)

Brand new machine red button doesn't depress- it feels springy but doesn't click therefore brush not working

Hi Moya,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. If the brushbar won't rotate, it may simply need resetting. Please follow the steps shown in the video below to reset it - make sure you have the cleaner reclined into the vacuuming position before testing it, as the brushbar will never run when the cleaner is standing upright.

However, if this doesn't restart the brushbar, it's best if you get in touch with us directly so we can help. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

Brush not going round .

Hi there,

Your cleaner is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the brushbar if it gets tangled with a rug fringe, shoelace etc. After making sure the brushbar is free of threads, hair or other obstructions, you'll be able to reset the cleaner and get the brushbar running again. The process is shown in easy-to-follow steps in the video below.

If you need further guidance, please refer to our online support pages:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1502&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

You may find it helps to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil to depress the reset button - make sure you push it in firmly until you hear an audible 'click'.

Please note, the brushbar will never rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've turned it off manually using the silver brush control switch located next to the red on/off switch. Make sure you have the cleaner reclined into the vacuuming position when you test the brushbar after resetting it.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly - you can call us free on 0800 2980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

The bottom bar does not rotate. I took it out and inspected for jams, etc, and found none . it is plugged in, and will rotate by hand with some resistance.

Hi, there is a button next to the start button, this works the brushbar. The brushbar is optional for different floor settings

Dc17 Brushbar will not rotate, still under warranty

I'd purse the warranty angle and see what they can do for you first.

As to causes, can you turn the brushbar with your hand? If so, does it turn easily, i.e. maybe your belt is broken. If the brushbar is hard to turn, then look for any obstructions on the brushbar (string, tinsel, etc.) that might be keeping it from turning. Look at the ends and where the belt contacts the bar.

Here's the Dyson customer service number:

1-866-MY-DYSON
(1-866-693-9766)

And here's their website which has warranty and service information.

Good luck!
