All three of my cordless panasonic kx-tga470 phones have flashing lights that will not turn off. Screen reads "new voice mail" - none there and all old messages reased. HELP
I have found that this problem will also happen when the batteries are failing. You can verify this if you have multiple handsets as only the bad one will have the blinking yellow light. At one point the display will not show either.

What worked for me was to call my phone from another phone and leave myself a voicemail. I then went in and retrieved and deleted that voicemail. Once I hung up from my voicemail service my handsets reset about 10 seconds later.

Have someone call you and leave you a message. then listen to the message and that might reset it.If that dont work call the manufacturer and they will walk you through it and should not charge you for it.

Press the "message" button and an option for "delete or save number" will appear. That's it!

press "mute" key to access menu, press the up or down arrow key labeled "caller ID- volume" until you get to "handset setup", press the "mute" key again, press the down or up arrow until you have "defaultsetting" selected, press "mute" key, press "1", then press "mute" once more. At this point your handset will reset clearing the indicator for all the handsets. I've had to do this twice on my phones and it worked every time.

The red light is MESSAGE WAITING. It is not necessarily VM notification. Press the MESSAGE button and look at the display. One of the soft keys will let you CLEAR the message and it will tell you where it came from. It's set by anybody calling your phone, and randomly, it is set by dialing your extension plus "4". Oops. It's a Pana mystery :-)
