Indesit W1A111 starts cycle when selector set to "off"

In typical fashion my washing machine broke down one week after the warantee ran out. It is an Indesit W1A111. Having finished a load of washing and turning the programme selector dial to "off", I noticed after an hour or so that one of the cycle LEDs was flashing. I pressed the start/pause button and the machine filled up with water and started a cycle even though the selector was in the "off" position. I hit the pause button again and switched off at the socket and had to drain the machine manually. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

Thanks for the advice. Hadn't had a reply for a few days so unplugged the machine and left it overnight. Seems to have reset itself so you were probably right.

Many indesits have a memory on board, set the timer to off position, turn on the mains press start let the machine finish what it is doing, and it will reset normally, turn off at mains for a few minutes can also do the trick, it sounds like one of the option buttons was pressed and you didn't let the timer finish its course,

Hi i have an indesit w 123s washing machine, that set to any program it doesnt move on it just does that setting, then if you turn the machine off and set it to end program you can reset to rinse and the...

hello try restting it before you bin it
  1. Turn the washing machine off with the on off button.
  2. Turn the selector knob to a dot, or any off position
  3. Turn the washing machine back on and watch for rapid flashing on the neon light
  4. Turn the washing machine off and select the new program (or maybe spin)
  5. Turn it back on and the new program should start
NOTE: Resetting the timer selector knob as shown above may stop the clicking round, but if your washing machine has a fault, the clicking round may return when your washing machine encounters the fault again. If your washing machine's program selector knob is clicking round on its own, then read the section above Washing machine stops with lights flashing hope it helps

I have an Indesit W1A111 and it spins, drains, rinses etc. It does everything it should do but if you put it on a programmed cycle it wont go pass the wash. For example if I put it on number 4 and press...

The normal procedure to reset the program of Indesit and like machines is to hold the start button for a a period of time in an attempt to reset the logic/programing. If unsuccessful, unplug the machine for a period of 5 to 10 minutes reset the selector to the desired program and hold the start button in hopes of clearing the memory of any previous commands. If this does not cure the problem the most probable causes are:

one or more of the 6 to 12 sensors (varies according to model and year of manufacture), around the drum, water drain pump, humidity sensor, ect.,has developed high resistance/corrosion contacts or due to vibration of wash and spin cycle, has shaken wire/contacts loose. If this is the case, remove the top cover plate for access. Clean and reseat the contact/connectors also check for wires loose in the connector, as they are simple compress crimps. The most probable suspect is visible on a duct, which is at top center over the drum. I would suggest that all receive service while you have the top off to avoid do it again in the near future. If this fails to clear the problem it is most likely a failed module requiring identification of the failed module and replacement.

WHDSR209DWW on/off button will not engage to spin the cycle selector dial

The cycle selector is not engaged onto the timer shaft. Need to remove the on/off knob by removing the plastic "U" clip. Remove the cycle selctor knob and check that the steel spring clip on the selector is fully seated. Re-install the cycle selector onto the timer shaft aligning the selector key with the with tthe notch on the timer shaft. Re-install the on/off knob.

The cycle selector and on/off combination is a poor design. Users press the on/off knob in and turn clockwise to set the wash cycle. If you're not gentle this action wears the teeth on the timer shaft and the user has to press harder and harder to set the wash cycle. This pressing causes the cycle selector to be pushed off the timer shaft and you can no longer operate the machine.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Stop using the on/off knob to set the wash cycle. Press on the cycle selector to set the wash cycle. Use the on/off knob only for starting or stopping the machine. Don't press or pull too hard on the on/off knob or you will wind up pushing the cycle selector off the timer shaft.

Help

al indesit washer have a reset pattern
switch of with on/off button
turn selector to a large 'off dot' position
wait a couple of mins then switch back on
wait 2 mins
then switch off again and turn selector to a cycle start position
wait 2 mins turn back on and let it run the FULL cycle do not mess it about.
Sometimes it takes 2 or3 attempts so be patient

If there is a fault it will appear again within the cycle and give you an error code eg E7/E1 etc note this and call a repair man he will track it from this code.
