SOURCE: replacement ice maker

Sounds like you may have gotten a wrong kit, or a mislabled kit. Take it back and ask the salesperson to correct the error. Ask them for some advice if they try to say it is the right one. They made a profit on the sale so they need to make it right with you.
If you get nowhere, which is likely to happen, post me back and I can help you come down legal on them.

If my assistance helped resolve this issue, please show your appreciation by rating how effective my advice was in resolving this issue.
Thank you,

SOURCE: GE GSS25LGM Ice maker not dispensing ice

You have one of three things wrong. The auger motor is frozen up, the ice bucket is broken or you need to dump out any ice, run warm water through the entire ice bucket, dry it out and try again with fresh cubes. My guess is the auger motor is frozen. You can buy a vinyl boot that covers the auger motor to prevent moisture buildup and freezing from GE Parts at 1-800-626-2002

SOURCE: Whirlpool Refrigerator Shelf falling off support pins regularly

Hello,
I got a new refrigerator that has the same problem. I solved it by cutting a triangular pencil grip for children's pencils down so they extend out just past the pegs on both sides (making them longer). The grips fit on snug, just like on a pencil, you don't have to screw the shelves in permanently which allows them to be taken off and moved. Works like a charm and holds the shelves in very snug.

Be sure the metal bar under the ice bucket is fed into the 'stirrup' at the back of the freezer, if it is in place, hold the freezer light switch down while the door is open, and press the ice dispense paddle to observe auger operation and see if the 'stirrup' is pulled upward by the solenoid that operates it... Amana side by side ice maker quit. verified water

Hi andy and wlecome to Fixya. There is usually a semi white plastic line that runs up the back of your refrigerator. Here are some steps you can do to verify that the water valve is actually working
You will need an old power cord or cheap extension cord with 2 female bayonet terminals on it. (Make one if you have to.)

1. Unplug the unit.
2. gain access to the water valve and disconnect the wire terminals 2 ea from the solenoid.
3. Connect the cord you made to the solenoid making sure that the 2 terminal connections will not come off or touch together.
4. Get a bucket and gently pull the plastic line from the bulkhead connector in the upper area of the back of your unit and place it in a bucket.
5. Plug the cord into the wall outlet and HOPE that water flows into the bucket.

If the water does NOT flow then the water valve is clogged and will need cleaned or replaced. Many of these water valves have a hose type inlet connector fitting from the water SOURCE. Before attempting to remove any water lines turn the water source OFF. That fitting can be removed and you can check for a clogged screen.

Just remember to remove your test cord and re-connect the chassis harness to the solenoid when your done. Also put the plastic line on the back of the unit back into the bulkhead connector.

If you have water flow thru the line then the bulkhead connector fitting to the icemaker is froze up and you can thaw that out with a hair dryer (quickly) or a fan (Slower) with the unit unplugged.

This should give you some direction on what to do. Best of luck!

LG ice maker only dispenses crushed ice not whole cubes

Very problematic issue with this model .Try unplugging and plugging the fridgerator which resets the board. The board is located on top under a removeable panel where the power cord enters....there is a reset/diagnostic button on the board itself.Contact LGUSA.com for any possible warranty and complain like crazy to avoid spending $300 on this board which can be purchased from andrewselectronics.com who is a factory authorized parts provider.Keeping that ice maker going will make you pull your hair out which is unfortuante for such a stylish and expensive fridge.good luck

Ice in bucket freezes into a lump, mechanism freezes

it sounds like the ice chute door is stuck open. on this model it can slip off the "hinge pin" or the plastic that holds the pin can break. if the flap is broken it is replacable. the pin can be put back in. if the plastic that holds the pin is broken, you need to replace the whole door. expect to wait 6-8 weeks for a new door, sooner if lucky. cost is $400 +++ more for stainless.I hope the pin fell out. hope this helps

Switch on ice maker not changing from crush ice to cube

on your ice bucket there is probably a bent thin metal bar that extends to the back of your refrigerator. if you remove the bin you will see a white plastic square hanging just behind the metal rear panel. Hold your light switch(s) closed while looking at the plastic square ahnger then give your refrigerator a "reach around" and cycle the ice dispenser in both the crushed and the cube settings. in one of the settings the square should move. if it does not.... try putting a blow dryer in front of the small square opening for about 10 minutes on high heat and repeat the process. if it still dosent move order a auger solenoid. 888-995-9956 is our number for parts (mod/ser. numbers required.) the blow dryer will probably solve the problem.

You may be on the right track. Remove the ice bucket and check the square hole behind the ice bucket in the back wall of the freezer. You should be able to move the horizontal rod in it up and down with your finger. If not, it may be frozen in one position. If so, just warm the area a bit with a hair dryer to free it. Replace ice bucket and test. Another thing which may cause that is the ice auger itself may have separated from the drive shaft. (The icemaker itself has nothing to do with making "crushed" ice. It only makes cubes. The cubes are dispensed or crushed and dispensed at the front of the ice bucket using the auger and the metal parts there.) You might also want to verify that the long metal rod (which extends past the ice bucket and into that square hole) is able to move. (it is spring loaded)

The solenoid that controls the blades on the ice bucket is either froze up or defective. Remove the ice bucket and use a hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer where the bar on the ice bucket would go into the back wall. That plastic square in that hole should line up with the hole. Not be up inside the hole. Use the hair dryer on the back wall just above the hole with the plastic square inside it. The solenoid behind that wall is what controls the cubed and crushed ice. If that doesn't fix your problem replace the solenoid, Part Number 5304404333.

Let me Know how you Make out with your repair.

Thank you,
Bill

Ice crusher has stopped crushing

There is a little bar that is on the ice bucket. That bar has to go into the middle of the plastic square that is on the back wall of the freezer. Try Pulling out the ice bucket, get a hair dryer and run the hair dryer on the back wall of the freezer right above the hole where that little bar goes. After you run the hair dryer for about 10 minutes or so put your finger in the hole and pull down on the plastic square. Make sure when you put the ice bucket back in the freezer, the bar goes inside the square hole, not under it, not over it. In it. If that doesn't fix the problem you probably just need a new solenoid. Part number 5304404333

Let me know how you make out. Good Luck

On the bottom of the ice bucket it has a metal rod that fits into a square hole in the back of the freezer.  Behind that square hole is a solenoid that actuates the rod on the bucket.  Take the bucket out, shut the door and press for ice.  If you hear a loud clunk noise then that is the solenoid moving up and down.  If you don't hear that noise then replace the solenoid.  Sometimes when the bucket gets taken out and put back in the rod is underneath that solenoid and doesn't let it actuate the rod.  If you find the solenoid is working make sure the solenoid is in the down position then put the bucket back in.  Let me know what you find.
