The device have to be powered and on when you press the reset button ..and if it the reset is functioning it has to restart the device when is pressed..Only then you know for sure that it was reset ....Another thing to do is to remove any memory card or anything that may not be read proper in it ...and start it again ..If same thing happens than remove and reinsert the battery ..and power it up without any media in it ..like stick or card of memory ..If still makes the same issues..you have to get to the support site ..and download the firmware soft and install it again ..cause it was damaged during the battery changing process..If it has a permanent rechargeable battery ..you should change it ..while the device was plugged into the charger ..cause if it do not have a cmos battery ..the memory flash lost the firmware when it was with no battery at all ..reinstalling the firmware will do the job in this case..
