Question about RCA F38310 38" TV

1 Answer

Constant clicking every half-second as soon as you plug it in.

Hey guys, today my 38" RCA went on the fritz. I was watching the exciting display of files being transferred to my Xbox, when the TV looked like it shut off. You know how when you turn off CRT's (usually older ones) the picture converges to a dot or vertical line in the center? Well, it did that along with a clicking noise, which is the same sound it makes when it turns off, but it kept doing every half second. So you see the shutting off converging thing along with a click, then half a second later the same thing, another half second same thing again, etc. The only way I could stop this cycle was by unplugging the unit from the back. After a few minutes, I plugged it back in and it starting doing the same thing right when it got plugged in. I went to the front of the TV and hit the power button. The green light went on, but it kept clicking. I pressed the power button again and the green light went off, but it kept clicking. So I unplugged the unit again and stopped messing around with it. So, has anyone else ever encountered this before? I would appreciate any type of help I can get. Thanks.

it first found varistor across degause relay was burn out-replaced did not resolve.
troubleshoot through schematic...on/off signal from power on switch that send signal to microprocessor I/O board, microprocessor output signal 5vdc to Q14105 turn on optical isolator U14102 and latch power. So far the output of processor signal is jumping up and down (which is no good) Its processor bad?? possible could not verify. Q14105 and U14102 ohmed out ok. I hard to troubleshoot with power on...I am going to jump out U14102 pin 3 and 4 to manual latch the power...when come back to it. What is your suggestion GUGU.

I have the same problem. It's like the tv is trying to turn on, but then something keeps canceling it. The tv will turn on then off over and over again. I moved the tv to look at the back so that I could pull the power plug, and it stopped clicking. When I pushed the power button on it started the clicking again. I then moved the tv again and it stopped. Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it....

Hey , i got the link went to the web page , followed the instructions the best i could . I downloaded the logitech program or whatever and went through a few steps , but when it said click on the device to calibrate it didnt show any. I dont think my computer is detecting my device . Could the 15 pin adapter i purchased be part of my problem as well. The reason i ask that is my other joystick that rescently got out of working order , as soon as it get plugged in the computer detectes it and automatictly installs it in matter of seconds . I dont understand why this one should be any different , but it is . lol .

My RCA F38310 doesn't seem to want to turn on all the way.

Sometimes mine will sort of go into a "loop" powering off/on similar to what you describe. Physically unplugging the set for a few minutes, plugging back in solves my issue.

TV went out

Hey Jim, The high voltage protection circuit has gone out on the D-board and will need to be replaced. The fuse to the power supply is probably fine. A good repair tech shouldn't charge over $125 for this and it only takes a couple of hours. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

The only thing I can recommend my freind, since I did not resolder the board, is for you to go over your work with a fine tooth comb. Yes I too, with 38 years experience, have cause problems while resoldering or rushing a repair. Good Luck Please do not forget to rate this thread.
