SOURCE: How do I remove the spindle from the deck of a Craftsman mower.

Put your blade back on so you will have some backup on the nut. Wedge a piece of 2x4 between the blade and deck to hold the shaft while you take off the nut. You should do that before unbolting the spindle. If you are just replacing bearings, you don't have to unbolt the spindle at all. Just remove the pulley on top and the shaft with blade attached will slide out the bottom. The botton bearing, however, will be on the shaft and is difficult to get off. I use a bearing splitter to get it down far enough to drive off the shaft.

SOURCE: remove pulley on mower deck spindle

These are generally held on with just one large nut, I recommend you use a impact wrench otherwise it mau prove difficult ( you wont be able to hold the spindle tight enough) and certainly you will need a impact wrench to reassemble the spindle

SOURCE: deck is leveled, blades are fine, spindle not bent it still cuts

there was a problem with the lighter gauge decks [thinner steel], and the deck would actually bend inward on the left side. this would tilt the mandrel inward making the blade cut at a slight angle to the right blade - there is tool to straighten the deck [the left mandrel housing usually breaks, though] - some shops have this tool, others have never heard of such a thing - most sears l&g field techs have this tool in their trucks - i have the tool in my shop, but i have had luck with turning the deck over and whapping it a couple of times on the inside edge of the left mandrel until the blades line up

When taking off the blade for replacement one side of the attachment assembly broke off. i can't figure which nuts/bolts to loosen to remove that part for replacement

The spindle assembly is usually held in place by bolts through the mower deck. The deck will need to be removed from the mower to get to them. There will be three or four of them at the base of the spindle assembly, remove these and the spindle will fall out the bottom

How to fit the mower deck belt on a ***** LT130?

The best way is to remove the deck from the mower. At this time you should grease the pulleys and spindles. there are four post that hold it. two on either side and one in the front. they are held by cotter pins. lower your deck level down makes it easier. you will have one engagement cable that just pops out it has a spring on it. then slide it out from the easiest side or pick the mower up and pull deck out . at this point it will be apparent where the belt goes and do your your other maintenance of cleaning and lube. factory says lube spindles every 8 hours of use. Then put it back under and re attach.

Cub cadet riding mower Mower Blade and shaft wiggle

I am not familiar with Cub Cadet but would suggest that if spindle is loose [wiggles] then one or more bearings need replacing. Remove the whole deck from the machine and turn over. Check the blade [s] are firm. If not undo the nut holding the blade on and remove the spindle and its housing from the deck frame. Remove the driving pulley also. Usually these types of drives have a spindle with a special fitting on the lower end for the blades to fit onto. Some are forged on the end of the spindle and the bearings come off the other end. Others will be removeable and so the bearings will come off each end. What ever, clean up with fuel and replace both bearings. You may have to remove the seals on the inside to let grease in. Make sure the top bearing has plenty of grease as it may miss out if all the grease goes down. Some machines it is better to leave the seals on top bearing. I have found that it does not pay to use the hose connection to clean the deck as the water destroys the bearings and only half cleans the deck. Best to put planks onto trailer or ute deck and run mower up so you can get underneath with big screw driver every now and then. Take blades off and sharpen them then also.

Remove the deck and check the blades and spindles. I suspect your issue is electrical and not mechanical though.

Vibrating 38" deck on MTD yardman mower

Hi, first replace the blade spindle bearings, if you had to hit them to free them up the bearings are shot. Secondly, replace the deck belt. Because you engaged the blades with a siezed bearing the belt will have a worn section where the v will be thinner thus causing the vibration as it passes through the pulleys. Regards Phil.

How to replace the spindle on a 48 inch mower deck

OK, Now I see your question under a different post. You are going to have to pull the deck out from under the spindle housing and spindle and replace them. They usually come as an assembly. after removing teh deck you should see the spindle housing retaining bolts to remove. Make sure you pull the blade off that spindle before you try removing it.

Mower deck spindle replacement

first take the blade off the spindle, then take the belt off the top, now there should be a nut on the top of the spindle you will have to remove that nut once you get that one off the pully will come off the spindle, now you will have to remove the bolts holding the spindle housing to the deck, put the spindle housing in a vise, put the nut back on the top of the spindle so that if you mass the threads with the hammer you are going to hit it with them you can fix them with the nut by taking it off again... now you have the nut on the top of the spindle and its in the vise, now hit the spindle to knock the bearing out of the bottum once you push the bearing out, you can remove the spindle out the bottum, now flip the housing over and take a punch and push the other bearing out if you are going to replace the bearings when replacing the spindle, i would reconend it... if you need anything else just xomment and ill repost...
good luck
