Unfortunately, once you format the disk, the pictures are gone. Formatting erases everything and gets the disk ready to receive more pictures. Sorry to have to relay the bad news.
You pressed format on your camera. That meant that you formatted the memory card of your camera. All your photos are saved on the memory card of your digital camera automatically. So you can recover photos from formatted memory card with data recovery software.I have a professional program on my computer that can recover data after deeply scanning your memory card to look for lost data you accidentally deleted or formatted. But you had better have stopped using the memory card of your camera. Because, once the pictures were overwritten by new ones, they are gone for good. By the way,you can download it and scan your memory card for free to preview whether your erased photos can be recovered.Get it from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoverystandard.htm
Yes, you can get them back...but ONLY if you have not taken any pictures after you formated the camera. There are programs out there that use data recovery to get your pictures back, but like I said, If you have taken pictures on your camera after you did the format...nothing will work.
Basically, the formatting process does not clean up your data, only the address. It is still in your memory card, can be recovered as far as you have not yet "overlapped" or "put other data on" it. There are some good free software, you can search in google or find it here: http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008/01/24/top-10-free-data-recovery-software/
I am sorry once you format a card the images are gone. most of the time. if they are real important pictures then there are services out their that can retrive them. you might want to take out the memory chip turn on the camera and see if you still have photo's on the internal memory.
