Vista and yahoo voice compatability

Hi,

I had the same problem(s) with Vista and Yahoo Chat. I ended up with a simple workaround that doesn't involve downloading codecs etc., from 'suspicious' places, that may or may not work with your particular flavor of Vista..

First, go here: http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/2008/05/29/new-release-of-yahoo-messenger-90-beta/ and get the newest Yahoo Messenger 9.

Then go into a Yahoo Chat room. (I'd suggest one of the romance ones as there are usually quite a few attention strarved women and desperate men chatting away on mics.) When you click on the "Voice" button, you'll probably see this,
"this computer does not appear to have input, or it is not configured correctly" (which doesn't seem a whole lot better than the original compression issues,) BUT, all you have to do is plug in a microphone and everything works just tickety-boo. If you don't have a mic, just plug some headphones INTO the INPUT for the mic. You'll still hear everything just fine through your speakers.

It's not an ideal solution but unless someone out there remembers more than I do about their days as a 'sound guy' for local bands, it shouldn't do any harm.

That tsp codec worked with the original Vista. I used it to fix the voice on the original Vista but after installing SP1 the voice quit working. If you have SP1(you should) don't bother with the tsp codec--it won't work.

Vista has many issues with drivers and some devices, and especialy older devices. SP-1 for Vista is supposed to make Vista more compatible to XP for drivers and softwares. You will know when you have SP-1 installed.

Most businesses are refusing to go with Vista at all. They are demanding XP-Pro only. Many were saying that Vista is so bad for issues that if they cannot go to XP-Pro they will go over to Linux.

As for Vista, I really like the look of it, and the way it handles. I am waiting to see how it works out with SP-1. For that reason I am holding off on my next PC. When I tried Vista for a client on a new computer I had too many problems with it. Out it went, and I was back on XP-Pro for him. If Vista still has the problems I will be going with XP-Pro, or possiblity Linux.

i down loaded 9.0 messenger and chat rooms voice and sound are good now

Using Yahoo v9 final supposedly installs a voice codec for chat room voice, but unmerous people have problems with v9.

I use Yahoo v8.1, and downloaded the codec here:

• After installing close Yahoo
• Right click the shortcut for Yahoo on your desktop and select "Run as Administrator"

the provlem is due to the windows vista and the audio drivers both. intel is using puter hd platform on newer chipsets the two most common drivers used for hd audio are realtech and sigmatel IDT high def. codec, the problem occours when u have vista service pack 1 because these audio drivers are specially designed for vista service pak 1 so when u try to install tsp codec or the messanger the vista refuses to accept the codec which is requred by messabger so end result is u do not get sound in confrence but i found one solution for this

Solution - the solution for this problem is install a yahoo verson in which the codec is intigrated or intigrate the codec into yahoo so u can down load the link from bellow i am giving u a new messanger which has intigrated codec..........enjoy 100 tested it will solve all problems.......

i have a problem with the voice in chatting it alwas comes a words saying the voice compression format what can i do?

I tried all the downloads and none of them worked. Then someone had the solution on here to plug a set of headphones into the headphone outlet on the back of your computer and now everything works just fine!! What a simple solution THAT WAS since I downloaded Yahoo 9.0 and still had the same problem!!

So...plug an old pair of headphones into the headphone jack and you'll be able to hear voice..:)

if your on vista and can't get voice go to yazak download and just download the
VBRundll and the vista voice fix then reboot.you can find yazak download in search

This is the best I got it here,
Just download the latest updates for your Operating system from Microsoft
Then download the latest version of yahoo which is offcourse yahoo messenger 9.0
After install, reboot PC and then use it ..
