Takes 5 minutes to start up

Try running disk clean up and then disk defrag. After that open a browser on the internet and click on tools and then internet options. Click on browsing history settings and make sure its set to no higher then 50. Reboot your pc and test how long it takes to start up after all of the above are complete. There are other things you can check and correct to speed up the pc but they are tougher to explain by posting a message and I dont want to start you on something that you may run into problems with completing it.

I want to recover my computer to factory settings

As soon as you press the power button on your notebook, Keep tapping F8 repeatedly. Another screen should pop up with a list of commands (safe mode / start up repair etc) Near the bottom of the list you should see an option to ReInstall windows / Reset to factory Default. Select which one you prefer and follow the simple instructions.

Hope this helps and please rate thanks.

My intel wireless adapter displays error code 10 and this device cannot start.

Hi,

Suggest you reinstall the driver from your drivers cd that you got with your laptop. Alternatively get driver from the manufacturer's website.

If you still get this issue, then usually points to a hardware failure

Make sure that you have already tried switching the PC off and back on again.

As a last resort, you may want to recover your pc back to its factory setting with your recovery disks and if still not detected, almost certainly a hardware problem

Hope this helps

My Toshiba M55-S135 laptop has a PXE-E61 Error upon starting. I did make sure the Boot is set to HDD first and LAN LAST! Still have this issue. It won't even run the Toshiba recover cd. Please help me....

Is your BIOS actually recognising your hard disk drive.
It sounds to me very much like it isn't seeing your hard disk as a physical drive and therefore as the "last option" it is trying to load a PXE image from a network server via your LAN connection.

Can you not remove LAN from your boot options completely and see then if you get message similar to

"Operating System Not Found"

My advice would be first to see if you can boot from a CD if you can boot from a CD e.g. Windows Setup CD or Knoppix then my best advice would be to test with a new hard disk drive and try installing your operating system onto a new hard drive.

Kind Regards

IBM Thinkpad r51 unable to recover/restore

Hello,

In restoring your computer factory defaults it enables your computer to set its first default settings and eventually all your data stored in your computer will automatically erase. So then you purchase a recovery software and having some problem in installing it. Maybe because not all software will run in different platform or version of operating system. So my advice: Please find some computer shop in your area, a shop with complete equipments in order for you to recover all your data stored in your computer and let them recover it for you. In that way you are assured that they can do it fast and effective.

Thanks

You do not need the CD to recover this laptop.

From the User Manual:

1. Turn on your computer. When the message <F2> to enter System Configuration
Utility appears on the bottom left of the screen, press F2. Then, the Setup Utility
will open.
2. In the Exit menu, select Load Setup Defaults; then, press Enter twice.
3. In the Exit menu, confirm Exit Saving Changes is highlighted and press Enter
twice.
4. The system will restart. When the message Press F10 to Recover appears on the
screen, press F10.
5. Read the message on the screen, and select the way to recover your system; then,
press Enter. If you selected Formats hard disk and creates new partition, go to
the next step. Otherwise, go to Step 10.
6. Select the volume of C: drive and press Enter.
7. Read the message and select Continue; then, press Enter. The formatting and reinstallation
will start.
Although the pointer may be shown on the screen, never touch the
keyboard or the mouse during recovery except when the message prompts
you to. If you touch them, the re-installation will be canceled.
8. When the re-installation process is completed, the system will restart
automatically.
9. Set up Windows XP by following the on-screen instructions. When you complete
the Windows setup, make sure to set date and time.
