Whistling noise I had my chain adjusted a while ago and since then my bike makes this strange noise while maintaining speed or accelerating. The bike makes a low whistle like you blew on an empty bottle. The sound comes and goes, but I never hear it while decelerating.

Its coming from somewhere around my left boot. I have a 2002 Honda shadow spirit 750.

I don't think your whistling is related to your chain adjustment. What else might be whistling ... helmet ... ???Did you change anything else? Was your chain loud before and possibly covered the noise you are now hearing?

It's not my helmet, it was after the chain was adjusted, but It gets pretty loud at a low speed but it isn't constant unless I'm going 35 or 40 its a very strange noise. And near my left foot, I can't pinpoint where it is exactly because its only while accelerating

It sounds like the primary drive chain is loose. The way I adjust mine is to take off the upper left inspection cover, start the bike and slowly tighten the adjuster until it starts to wine, then back off until it stops. Rev it slowly and listen for a wine. No wine good to go.

Pulsar 150 drive chain jumping with strange knocking from engine.

Hi,it sounds from what you are saying that you have got a inturnal falt with the gearbox,im affried the only way to make a propper diagnoses is to take it apart and look at the gear sincros there has to be worn bearings,or teeth on the gears,or the sellector,or something has just manidged to come loose.

1559 motor makes noises

CHECK everything in the primary, primary chain, adjuster & shoe, all bolts, clutch parts, and very important check alignment of primary chain. If motor was pulled from bike inquire as to if when motor put back if alignment tool was used. Good luck.

Ask your friend do an actual milage check, not just an inexact " I get about 40mpg " as he says. What is he really getting? Driving at top speeds is better for an engine than city driving. Have the dealer do a compression check. The valves may need to be adjusted, (minor thing). If riding highway, get a larger front sprocket, i.e.13 tooth sprocket changed to a 14 tooth sprocket. This will help mpg. Driving fast is not good for mpg.

As far as owner maintenance, the best thing you can do for yourself is to ride over to the dealer to pick up a can of chain lube and ask them to give you some instructions in owner maintenance for your bike. They will be happy to show you what you can do and HOW to do it. This includes adjusting the chain. Don't be bashful. Ask questions; "How often is that needed? What do I look for? What tells me I need to bring it in? Can I get those parts here?" Build a relationship with your dealer. You will both benefit more that way than if I just tell you how to do the adjustments.
