Hi there. booking up Yamaha rx-v471 receiver to Polk sound bar. I have Xbox, DVD, and cable all into HDMI inputs on receiver. I have HDMI from receiver output to TV. All sources video working perfect. Zero audio from TV or sound bar (hooked up sound bar to audio out of receiver?). I plug HDMI from TV into any of the sources directly and audio and video work but when it goes through receiver the sound gets lost.

Did you verify the assignment of the hdmi input to the dvd IN?

The RX-V365 cannot process audio from the HDMI cables (you will still be able to hear it on your TV), you will need to run a seperate coaxial or optical cable into the audio input for the relevant component on the back of the RX-V365.

the RX-V365 cannot process the audio from the HDMI input. You will also need to connect a seperate audio input (either coaxial or optical) into the relevant input in the rear of the RX-V365

There are several video and audio inputs named DVD. For video you have HDMI, component and composite. For audio you have standard analog stereo and digital coaxial spdif input.
You need to configure the receiver to use the correct inputs - that means HDMI and coax. Also you need to connect the BD player via coax spdif cable to the receiver, because rx-v365 doesn't support audio via HDMI. If BD player has only optical output, use DTV/CABL HDMI input and DTv/CABL Optical input on the receiver.

Connect Xbox via HDMI to DTV/IN, Connect HDMI from out to Sony Bavia's HDMI/IN. Connect TV's Optical out to amps DTV/Optical in.

2X HDMI cables and one Optical are required.

hi i had similar problem, you need to change the settings in the bluray player output to hdmi or auto in other to get sound after the settings turn everything off even from the socket and then turn it back on for that setting to take effect. try this

Why do you need to connect the rca cables when you get better sound through hdmi?

Sounds like a poor grounding issue between the units OR maybe they're not as compatible as the Mfg's say.

Could be a bad HDMI cable also. Most are made in the land of Nanking

you almost have the exact same situation i am in. i have the same receiver, and going to purchase a panasonic 50" (th50px75u). i think what i will be doing is running a hdmi from my hd cable box to my tv, and installing an audio cable (red/white) from my tv to the receiver. i believe there is an audio input below the hdmi insert. i have polk audio, but theyare about 10 years old, they sound great, but just too large....and may be purchasing a harman kardon system. which models do you have from polk? i have the rt16's, cs350ls center, and fx/500 rears. let me know what you have come up with as well...as it has been a while since you posted this.
