This is a messy thing to trouble shoot. You should take the return hose from the input of the pump off. You can do this at the pump or at the wheels. Then you need to run it and catch all the PS fluid that comes out. Turn the wheels to the left and the right to get all the fluid out. Replace the fluid. You can flush it out with diesel if you want. IF that does not help then you have to take the power assist off the unit and have it disassembled to see if it is a seal or something sticking in the unit.

Remember the belt rule, V of the belt goes in V pulleys.Flat pulleys that are stationary or move get the back of the belt. You can figure it out. Its not rocket science. Remember at some point there has to be a tensioner,usually gets the back of the belt if its a flat pulley. U may have to remove the spring and then reattach the spring after the belt is routed.

SOURCE: My craftsman tractor 917273070 wont steer to the left the steering gear on the shaft looks like it pulls itself away when I turn left and the steering wheel is free spinning the right side does find

get down there and look to see if all the steering linkages are still connected together.

it has a steering wheel not steer arms... your issue is either something is bent/broken, the steering shaft is stripped or the steering wheel is just off

John Deere allows up to two and a half inches of tow in on the front wheels,to them this is normal.An adjustable steering rod is available but is not covered under warranty,it's up to you whether or not you need to install it,i suggest that you do.
