Snapper NXT236 keeps twisting and breaking mower deck belts

check for failing cutter shaft bearings , misalignment of pulleys , incorrect belt tension, wrong section belts in use
breaking belts is an indication of the belt going around a pulley and flexing against the belt fabric structure ( bending backwards as opposed to running properly in the groove) which indicates that the tension pulley is on the wrong position on the belt

Craftsman LT2000 lawn tractor keeps throwing deck drive belt

Keep in mind that the mower deck gets to be raised and lowered into the desired mowing height, with no change to drive pulley (at motor) height. This requires a belt long enough to allow the furthest reach (usually with deck dropped to lowest setting) and a spring loaded tensioner pulley, to take up the slack (and keep the belt tight) as the deck is raised. There may also be a belt guide or two incorporated to help keep the belt from jumping ship in the process. Sometimes these are just a heavy gauge steel wire loop that attaches near the pulley to keep the belt from jumping if it gets slack. Possibly you didn't thread the belt through or under it properly, or have missed the tensioner pulley.

It could also be the tensioner spring is broke or has fallen off or become too weak. Have someone move the deck up and down (with motor off, and belt installed) while you watch to see there is any obstruction in path. Also look for the belt becoming loose at a certain point. Some tensioners have the spring built in to the pulley and you can't really see them. They have to be pre-loaded, by rocking the pulley spindle assembly against the spring force while you slip the belt over it. Sometimes the belt looks fine and not loose in static (not moving) condition, but when the blades are spinning fast and the throttle is closed with no load (no thick grass being cut) the blades momentum will cause a belt sag that is supposed to be taken care of by the tensioner. It can get pretty grimy down there, also very dry, dusty and caked with cement like old clippings. Check the manual and find out where your tensioner is, then check it to make sure that it can move freely and it isn't locked tight by debris or rust. Also good to check if there has been an update to your mower. Sometimes these problems cause a manufacter to offer a better spring, or change pulley sizes to correct a common problem.

Is it possible to tighten a loose belt on my cub cadet RZT-54 ZERO TURN RIDER.model number 17AFCACK009

HI,
I assume you are reffering to the mower deck pulley...however, the belt that drives the two hydraulic motors work the same way as deck pulley system.
First, there is no manual adjustment on the pulley system. Rather there is a spring loaded pivot arm to which an idle pulley is fastened to. The spring pulls the pivot arm in such a way the it forces the idle pulley to keep the belt tight at all times. The same setup is used on the ground drive belt.
Sometimes these springs become disconnected or break so that no tension is placed on the belt to keep it tight.
Check the tensioner spring to ensure that it is connected properly and applying tension to the belt. Otherwise, you may have the incorrect belt installed, the belt is routed incorrectly or the belt may be stretched out and need replacing.
Here is a diagram to clarify, the spring is the dark black item;

Toro zreo turn lawn mower... mower runs but won't go when engaged. found a large spring broken?

This spring is the tensioner for the drive belt. visit www.arcolawn.com to look up your model and get the parts shipped to you.
I recommend a hook or rope to install it.

Replaced Mower Deck Drive Belt. Belt runs from Engine pulley to Mower deck Pulley. Purchased new belt rom JD dealer. Belt is slack, Is there suppodes to be a tensioner for this belt.

Yes, there is an idler arm with a pulley that presses either inward or outward against the belt to tension it. In some JD mowers, the arm is tensioned by pulling on a long metal rod that latches near the edge of the mower deck, but without the model number I can't be more precise about that. Just look for that extra pulley and arm it's mounted on -- you'll see a tension spring, and you should also see a way to pull the arm away from the spring to place it under tension. Good luck!

How do you put the drive belt for the hydrostatic drive on?

You'll be working underneath the mower, so it is helpful to raise the mower chassis up -- at least in back. Use your automobile jack, then put jackstands underneath the chassis to do this. Take off the deck drive belt first by releasing the idler spring(s). Unbolt and remove the "anchor" that keeps the PTO clutch from rotating. Disconnect the electrical wires leading to the PTO. Release the tension on the idler for the hydrostatic drive belt. Now you can thread the new hydrostatic belt over the engine pulley and around both wheel motor pulleys. The idler pulley presses it inward to provide tension. Refasten the idler spring - a pair of channellock pliers works well to hold and pull the spring. Now reinstall the wires and the PTO anchor, then the mower deck belt. Good luck! Please rate my answer if helpful, thanks!

How do I change the drive belt on a sears 5500 garden tractor

drive belt removal is a major pain on every riding mower I've ever seen.
need to take mower deck off , then look to see what is in the way of taking the drive belt off ...
tensioners, springs etc. they need to be taken off.
list every step you take in taking things off and keep the parts in seperate trays if necessary.
there is probably a protection plate or two to take off as well.
the springs are the biggest pain... you have to check what position various levers need to be in to have the least amount of tension on the springs when you take them off. [be careful]

for the mower deck belt set up ... drawing.
you can logically work out how it must go to work
looking for tensioners that engage the blades and rollers just to keep the belt out of the way of things. Make your own drawings of the wheels and how the belt could go ... the one that fits the the belt with the tensioners working ... is the right one.

Spring keeps breaking on mower deck belt tighener.

I would try getting a stonger spring but the same length as the orriginal spring. The spring still needs to have enough tension to pull the pully back, if you get one that dosn't have as much tension it wont pull the pully tight enought.

I change the deck belt about 6 times the mower will cut the belt and the belt slip off the track, also the tension spring keep broke 3 timas.

most likely problem something is bent on the deck or a cracked support holding one of the pulleys that the belt is traveling on, if the keep is breaking the spring might be pulling the pulley out of alignment or the bearing is heating up and burning thru the belt
