Follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Inspect the power cordUnplug the power cord and check for voltage at the outlet. Also inspect for damage, shorts, or burn marks that can be a possible safety hazard.
  2. Bad door switchIf your microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is necessary.
  3. Blown fusesTo determine if your fuse has blown out, which may attribute to your microwave not running, you need to pull the fuse out using a pair of fuse pullers. Lay it down and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check both ends of the fuse in question. If you do not get a reading of zero, then you will need to replace the fuse.
  4. Bad fan motorLocate the fan and remove the leads. Again using the volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If an infinity reading is displayed, it means that the fan has gone bad and requires replacement.

My microwave does everything except cook. what would the problem be?

If everything works, but the microwave oven does not heat, this is commonly caused by a failed magnetron. The magnetron is essentially, the heart of the oven. This is what produces the RF energy that heats your food.

In order to ascertain whether or not you wish to repair the oven, you need to consider the following: 1. The age of the appliance. Is the microwave oven still under a manufacturer warranty. If so, the repair should be performed at no cost to you. If not, you may have to pay for a service all, or attempt the repair on your own to save the cost of labor charges.
2. If you wish to repair yourself, you will need to uninstall the oven from over the range in order to replace the part (you will need to do this anyway, if you decide to buy a replacement oven).
3. You will need to ensure the oven is UNPLUGGED before servicing anything inside the cabinet. You will need to remove the exterior case in order to access the magnetron. There are several websites that you can use that illustrate how the oven is assembled:
searspartsdirect.com pcappliancerepair.com appliancepartspros.com If you've never repaired an appliance on your own before, a microwave oven is usually not a recommended appliance to start with. Some models can be rather involved in taking apart.
4, The magnetron replacement part number for the model you have this question listed under is 8206317. The average cost is about $45-$50. NOTE: This model also has a thermal cut-out (TCO) mounted on the magnetron. The TCO acts as fuse and if blown, will cause the oven to fail as well. You can check the tco by removing it from the circuit and measuring across the terminals. If good, it should read 0 ohms. The part number is 8184951 and generally costs about $25.
You need to decide whether or not the cost of replacement parts and the labor involved is worth the effort as opposed to replacing the entire oven at a higher cost and less labor (other than the installation). Review the parts illustrations at the recommended websites to see if this is something that you may be able easily take apart and reassemble. Its not a difficult process, but it can be labor intensive to uninstall the oven.
If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
CAUTION: DO NOT operate a microwave oven, with the exterior cover off. The voltage inside the High Voltage network where the magnetron is installed can exceed 3,000 volts.

Works for approx 30 secs then it cuts off with a error Code F7 message.

Assuming yours is a model KHMS2050SSS0, here is what the technical sheet says about the F7 error code:

1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
2. After 40 seconds, check to see whether this solves the problem.
3. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
4. Check cooling fan operation
5. Check the magnetron.
6. Check P65 connection on the relay control board.
7. Check the P56/P66 connection between relay board and relay control board.
8. Check wiring to the 1200W inverter and control system. See “Checking Inverters.”
9. Check operation of all interlock switches.
10. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
11. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
12. Check voltage at 4903-1 on relay board. If it is 120, unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
13. Replace inverter.
14. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
15. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
16. If problem persists, unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
17. Replace relay control board.
18. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
19. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
20. If problem persists, unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
21. Check for reversed plug connection on controls or loose wiring.
22. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
23. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.

(This troubleshooting guide presumes one does not know how to test electronic components. That's why they say to replace and part and check it again.)

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

If yours is a different model number, please reply back.

That loose cable sounds like it would be the humidity sensor. They're usually a shielded cable with three pins.

It will usually plug in close to a large resistor, like on the Sharp shown below.

Probably on the upper (display / control) board but I won't wears to that.

If you don't find it, please post a few photos of your board.

Don't understand how to set the power levels

Is your full model number MW8675? If not, please post your full model and let me try again.

Normally you press Time (or Time Cook) then the digits of the time, then Power, then a number from 1 to 9 (which stands for 10% to 90% power level), then Start.

On some models you just press the digits of the time, then Power, then a number from 1 to 9 then Start.

Many Emerson microwave manuals are available for free download here: http://www.emersonradio.com/owners/MWO%20manual/

If your is not there, try one with a number close to yours.

Power

You can download some models' owner's manuals here: http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/index.aspx But the attached diagram shows how power levels are categorized or rated. When you want to cook at a power level other than high, you normally hit POWER then a number from 1-0. On some models you press POWER repeatedly until it shows the power level you want.
