SOURCE: New motor runs but doesn't blow air through the registers

Is the blower wheel turning? Did you by chance have to remove the motor from the blower wheel to work on it? If you did, did you put the blower wheel back on in the correct direction of air flow? Also, did you put the correct capacitor back on the unit so it can get up to the required rpm's? These are things that you will need to check for. If the motor is running and the blower wheel isn't and the wheel is tight on the shaft, then you will have to replace the motor. The brushes may be bad on the unit and it's not turning the shaft. Hope these ideas help.

Compressor will not start up during new gooman packaged 3.5 ton heat pump a/c unit installation

New unit and it will not start typically a miswired unit. which happened at the factory. If you turn off the power you can Trace the wire from the compressor and make sure there are no disconnected wires. You need to know how to read a wiring diagram and a meter to effectively troubleshoot you loss of voltage or if the compressor is operable.

on the motor should be a diagram detailing the wires. brown white goes to either side of the capacitor and brown wire to other side of capacitor. hi speed goes to normally open contact on the indoor fan relay and the wire designated common on the motor goes to the other side of power from the relay contacts.

If it is a split unit this is a unit with a furnace and air handler inside with the condensing unit outside. If your inside fan is running ck your outside fan and seeif it is running. If it is it is probably the wires to the capacitor or the capacitor its self. Some capacitors have 3 wires this is a dual capacitor with a 5uf for the outside fan and a 35up for the compressor. on some there are two seperate capacitors one 5 one 35 uf. also it could be the wirng to the capacitor they will be melted and chared. all of this is located in the outside unit where the elect wires go into the unit you can removethe shell but first disconect the power there should be a disconnect switch near the unit. if not trip the breaker. be carefull with the elect.

Air Conditioner comes on but outside fan wont start unless I manually start it....how do i replace capacitor and how would I know if it is a capacitor issue? Please Help

First mark the wires and make a diagram so you can reconnect it. Next remove the capacitor. You can take it to a heating and air supply and they will test it for you. They will also sell you a new one. Use your wiring diagram to reinstall the capacitor wires. It sounds like your problem is the capacitor.

My rooftop coleman AC main wires are burnt

Either the power supply wiring is too long - i.e. a 150 foot extension cord used to power it with poor plug blades?
Or the capacitor is shot, (more likely)
Disconnect Power supply, wait 5 minutes, try to start the unit WITH POWER DISCONNECTED. (will drain capacitor). Short capacitor with well insulated screwdriver, get the new capacitor replaced on ebay or local electrical supply or appliance store (not home depot)

REPPLACING FAN AND COMPRESSOR CAPACITORS WITH A SINGLE UNIT

Well, it sounds as if you have a Coleman rooftop unit. If you have a start capacitor with a PTCR (Postive Temperature Coefficient Resistor) then it is different than if you have a Potential Motor Starting Relay. Why are you replacing the run and the fan capacitor?

Here is a link to the documentation that you need. If you do not have a Coleman and it is in fact a Duo-Therm, let me know the model number and I will be able to pull up the wiring schematic.

Thanks,

Jeff
