When it does not chill the air Freon could be low. To test Freon you need a set of gauges to check the pressure.

Sounds like it could be low on freon I believe these units have about 1.5 pounds of freon in them and are critical in not undercharging or overcharging them if it is a freon 410 ac unit the pressures should be about 135 and both lines cold if is low on freon a service tec will need to be called to try to repair the leak if possiable

Drain ac unit in my honda 07 sport

To drain the Freon out of your system you will need to have a to capture the Freon. Other wise it will get all over your car when you press the pressure valve down on the line.

Suncutter A/C needs freon. I have added freon to my vehicle system myself. Are home units set up the same way as automobile systems?

To a point yes they are. But home units require a different type of freon, the oils are different and you can cause major damage using the wrong freon or using the same gauges that where used to fill a car, also the residential or commercial units use a very specific amount of freon and if you are to high or to low you can cause damage. You should not be low on freon and it is recommended that you get a qualified service technician out to look at your unit and run dye through it to find the leak. If this is a newer system you are running very high PSI throughout your system and without the proper equipment you can cause damage to yourself or the unit. I hope that this kind of answers your question

I have a Goodman home A/C unit and the copper line coming into the house freezes up. The unit continues to run with no cold air. I was told it is either dirty or low on Freon. Are they correct? If it is...

Hello
If you have ice on bigger copper line and no cooling then the unit is low in freon.

As far as cleaning it,you should clean the outside condenser in the spring.Use some simple green and a hose to clean the coils, this will make it better for the heat to transfer to the outside and cut your costs of running the unit down.

No you can not do freon yourself you need to be cfc certified now, which means you can not buy freon.Best to have a service person come out.

Can freon be added to an under the counter unit?

Freon can be added to any unit, but you e going to have to take the unit out to exposed the back where the component are located. Why do you think that you need freon. Unless the line was punctured. it unlikely that you would need to add freon, Is it not getting/keeping cold. Problem might lie elsewhere like in the thermostat. Hope this helps.

Hello
If your going to have all the freon taken out, this current tech needs to find the leak.

Clearly from what you have said the unit has a freon leak.Freon is put in by ounces or pounds depending on the size of the unit, then you need to get the correct operating pressures.Coils do not go bad they either get full of dirt or get a hole in them.

An 8 yr old unit is a tough call, surley a new one will probably save some electric and come with a warranty.I would get some quotes on a new one, then see how much i could spend.

How do i get the freeon in the ac its not getting cold

Air Conditioners don't 'Use' freon per se. A common fallacy is the thinking that if "It's not getting cold, then it needs freon." If your unit lost freon, it has a leak and adding freon will only be a very short term fix.

If you're certain that you need freon, you'll have to take the unit to a certified HVAC technician. EPA regulations make it nearly impossible for the average handyman to service A/C units, since the freon must be handled in a very specific way with equipment not generally available to the average owner, was well as R-12 freon gas which can be bought only by licensed HVAC technicians.

However, there are many other problems that are far more likely to be the cause of no cooling than loss of freon. It could be something as simple as dirty condenser coils (you'd be surprised how common it is that a simple cleaning of these coils will 'fix' a non-working window A/C), to a defective thermostat switch, to other defective switches/controls.

Unless it's a very obvious leak, I always suspect a loss of freon LAST on my list of possible cause of non-cooling in these units.

Has anyone added some freon? The unit has way too much freon inside it. You need someone to reclaim the freon and weigh in the right amount of freon. If you run the unit the way it is will cause some very serious damage. Let me know ken
