SOURCE: fridgemaster mtrl 130 keeps icing

sounds like a faulty thermostat, turn this down to its lowest setting possible if it doesnt turn off you will have a faulty stat,it can be checked with a container of ice and a multimeter, place the thermostat bulb or wire into the ice the thermostat should break circuit,do not try this unless you are somewhat mechanically or electrically minded if you do attempt this UNPLUG the supply voltage first

SOURCE: i have a fridgemaster fridge

The first thing to do is to manually defrost the freezer.

If the defroster circuit has failed, the coil in the freezer that is responsible for cooling will be choked with ice. The air that is drawn into through this coil is restricted by the ice - resulting in rising temperatures in the fridge. The freezer will also eventually have a rising temperature (if it hasn't already started).

The next thing to do is decide whether to call a repairman or attempt the job yourself. The faulty component is likely to be one of the following: defrost terminator, defrost timer or the defrost heating element. Accessing these parts will require some simple tools and testing them (once visible) will require a multimeter and taking readings with power both on and off. If you are not comfortable doing this, please call a technician. There is also the hazard of damaging the cooling lines. Skin exposed to refrigerant gasses can result in instant frostbite - and is very dangerous.

You can put this repair work off if you need to - return power to the fridge and it should run fine until the coil becomes choked with frost and ice again. Repeat as often as needed.

This job is not very difficult for trained people to perform and shouldn't be very expensive - of course, "expensive" is a relative term. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: fridge freezer icing up

Check the drain is clear by blowing through. Some frosting is normal anyway.

Fridge Icing Up

Sounds like you have a defrost Prob. Take back cover off. Turn defrost timer in to defrost mode you will feel a click. timer may be located in fridge. ceiling or back wall if not there check bottom of fridge. behind kick plate or in back bottom of fridge. by compressor. See if heating element gets hot if not check for 120 volts at heater and defrost thermostat ( Terminator ) if not check defrost timer if you do have 120 volts check for 120 volts at heater terminals if no voltage or weak voltage replace terminator if you do have good voltage replace heating element. When ice builds up the fridge. starts to get warm turn off for 24hrs turn back on fridge. will run OK till ice builds back up.

Fridgedaire has a lot of defrost termination switches that are separating and not allowing the defrost cycle to heat up. The defrost termination switch is located behind the wall that is icing up, take out the screws that hold the back wall in place and use a hiar dryer or hot water to remove ice do not use an ice pick or sharp object of any kind. the def terminatin sw is small and round about 3/4 of and inch thick and has two wires coming off of it one goes to the defrost heater the other usually back into the wiring harness. check it to make sure it is not coming apart. Ohm it and the heater out it should have continuity when below 20 degress. the heater should have continuity all the time,.
