While I don't have a schematic, there is not much to the system. In my case, I removed the entire unit (stationary and mobile parts) and cleaned all the grease out. Be prepared to do this outside on a picnic table with a paint scraper and grease bucket.
Our unit would raise ok, then go right back down. There is a cam that raises the unit up and down. That same cam impacts a couple of micro switches. The push button switch over comes the raise limit switch when it's time to go back down. The limit switches (one up one down) have small metal tabs that get disturbed by grease and increased weight of the grease. After cleaning, just bend the upper limit tab just a little so it is tighter. On my mine, the unit would lift, then coast over the top of the cam profile and go back down. By bending the metal tab connected to the raise limit switch so the switch was more fully engaged sooner (earlier) to the top of stroke, the unit will stop where it should. Pressing the button again by passes the raise limit switch so the cam continues and the unit goes back down. I wish I had taken pictures when I did this. It really is very simple.
Unless that's a much bigger range hood than I imagine, there won't be any capacitor - the motor will be of a shaded-pole design. If you have a multimeter, you could measure for voltage on the motor wires when the motor should be running - if reasonable voltage is there but the motor isn't spinning, then the motor's dirty or unlubricated or dead. If no reasonable voltage is present, the electronic controller has failed.
We installed our Broan-Allure range hood about ten years ago. On three seperate occasions since, the fan has randomly turned on and none of the control buttons would turn it off. After a while it turns itself off. During those same times, when you turned the lights on, they would blink before finally staying on. On each occasion, I have removed the screens and metal underpieces to gain access to the circut board. Once you can see the circut board, remove and replace the 3 Amp fuse that is mounted on the board. (Radio Shack part # 270-1054)...even if the fuse looks good, replace it. Each time this has work for about three years, then it acts up again..
Your problem is: After the power went out your Zephyr hood lights and fan don't work at all. There is a faint glow on the digital display but the fan and lights don't respond to pressing the control buttons.
First check the circuit breaker. If OK then check the transformer in the unit. It's next to the fan motor. If no power on the high side then you have a loose or broken connection. If you have no power on the low side the you have a bad transformer. If OK then you have a bad control board.
