SOURCE: Can't find the oil drain plug on Troy Bilt with 5.5 Honda engine

You may want to look under the deck. They sometimes put them there. And if it is a self propelled, you will probably need to remove or loosen the plastic cover that protects the self propelled belt.

You are looking for a nickel sized plug that has a square peg. Use an extension piece for a socket set if you don't have the proper plug removal tool.

SOURCE: Motor seems to be locked up!!!!!!!!

It may be your engine, but it may also be the water pressure. Try this: Hold the trigger down while pulling the recoil starter. This acts as an unloader for the pressure washer, and may allow the engine to turn over. There is also an oil level in the pump as well as the engine. Check both levels.
Just a thought, but I've been there. Best regards, W/D

SOURCE: troy bilt mower. starts but shuts off within seconds.

sounds like you have a primer bulb if you take the bolt that holds the float bowl off and take a tip cleaner that they use for welding tips and clean the holes out of the side and the top it should let the fuel in again that will save you a trip to a service repair shop

SOURCE: troy bilt mower 6.75 hp smoking too much oil...

Check oil level, it could be just excess oil. Also check air filter, it may need cleaning/replacing. Depending on how old the nower is, it could be broken rings in the engine, in that case... time for a new mower. hope this helps!

Electric start on Troy Bilt 21" single stage snow blower doesn't work. Recoil starter does. Electric start worked last year, but today, nothing. All cords good, power, etc.

The starter could be bad. Remove starter and see if it will turn over when 120v is applied.Check the wires to starter first! Good-Day!

How to fix recoil starter?

It appears that the recoil spring is broken or has come away from its anchor position. It means opening the unit (usually 4 screws) and re-seating the recoil spring and rewinding the recoil spring so that it will recoil the starter rope with the correct tension. It may take a few attempts to get it right. If you do get it right, don't over-extend the starter rope when starting the washer. Someone was over-zealous!

Pull cord engaging

recoil clutch fingers are broken or stuck. Take the recoil cover off and look at it while pulling the cord to see if the fingers arent coming out. If the fingers are still coming out then you have worn out grooves on starter cone where fingers engage to turn the motor. If the recoil is damaged a new one can be purchased as a unit from Troy Bilt online for a reasonable price.

PULL ROPE IS STUCK ON A TROY BILT BLOWER

Partial disassembly of the machine will be required to access/diagnose the exact problem. The starter/recoil unit goes on top of the flywheel and the flywheel is on the engine shaft. The obstacles will be removing the main cover (and getting it back on correctly). If you have never done this, them maybe take pictures as you disassemble it to help you reassemble. Once you reach the starter/recoil unit, you will see how it works and be able to resolve the problem. Some of these units have inferior design and engineering flaws where they mate nylon parts with metal and of course, the nylon doesn't hold up. Post back for more help if needed once you get to the starter unit.

Tecumseh part #36221 should be the starter cup you are looking for. It is available through www.partstree.com or try your local repair shop. Any shop that handles Tecumseh parts should be able to order it for you.
Good luck!

How do I fix/replace the starter rope on a TB20CS (Tuffy Troy Bilt String Trimmer) that's broken? Do I need any special tools?

Probably no special tools needed. Take the starter assy off. Turn the recoil in the direction it will turn if you are pulling the rope. When it gets tight, hold it there and install the new rope. When it is installed, let go of the recoil and it will draw the rope in.

Brand new, troy-bilt chipper model 4265. put oil in engine filled it with gas and tried to pull the recoil starter. It's locked up. I could lift this unit in the air with the recoil starter.

Sounds defective. Even if you could fix this problem something else is bound to go wrong. Troy-Bilt has a reputation for quality products and I'd suggest, since it's brand new, you get it replaced.
