Question about OnStream DP30 (DP30-01) ADR Tape Drive
Had left my computer on couple of weeks ago and had retreived info from one of my cartridges. Working fine. Using echo software version 3.1 and was able to get the shuttle and firmware from one of my cartridges that I backed up. Couple of weeks later tried to retrieve info and the monitor was black and had error message "Trapped General Protection Fault and some other crap, trie d to reboot and it wouldn't kept coming up went the same screen, then I notice a floppy in the drive, took it out and rebooted okay, but onstream would not read the cartridge, it kept ejecting the tape out..Finally I downloaded 1safe and the tape still won't load my cartride. Can you help? I need to get information from my cartridges. Thanks
First ensure that is not a software problem, possibly reinstalling software and drivers. If you are sure that the problem is not related to dirty heads the second most common cause for tape units not reading is the azimuth gone bad. Azimuth is controlled by a tiny screw inside the tape unit, near to the head. If you still cannot fix the problem then you may require specific hardware assistance from a repair center.
hope it helps

This may sound a liitle silly, but i have had problems similair, if its an external drive, it could be the power supply cable, if its internal apologies and ignore me.

HI, This is normally a sign of a dirty drive head. If have any or if you can buy them, get yourself a cleaning tape to clean the head. Also check the tape itself is clear of dirt and nothing is broken/loose. M
