SOURCE: Fellowes Shredder keeps running
You should be able to flip up the cd cover and visibly see the sensors in the center of the paper entry(look like little LED lightbulbs) Clean with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alchohol. This should solve your problem. If it doesn't you probally have a burned out sensor. call 1-800-945-4545 to check with customer service.

Best to use the alcohol/cotton swab recommendation. When I first called Fellowes about cleaning the sensor, they told me never to spray compressed air into the shredder throat, but without much explanation. Later I discovered that the instructions on some of the compressed air cans specifically warn against using them to clear shredder sensors, as the flammable accelerant can leak out when the can is held at an angle and possibly ignite if a spark is generated by the machine.
This link will take you to the Fellowes FAQ page:
On the page click on "How do I clean the sensors on my (model) shredder." I depart a bit from the instructions in that I don't replace the two screws on the throat guide. That way, I can simply slide the media guide toward the front of the machine, lift up the throat guide and do my cleaning. Much faster and, in my opinion, not having the throat guide screws in does not seem to pose much of a safety issue.

try resetting the shreddar, unplugging it waiting for about 20 seconds and then plugging back in. Check to make sure there is no paper or paper clips stuck in the shreddar, make sure the unit is properly mounted on bin, the overheat light isn't on is it? if none of this helps and you have a warranty on your shreddar now would be a good time ot call them as you might have a hardware problem.

There is a screw hidden under one of the stick on labels. Remove that and the top comes just fine. I got it torn apart, completely cleaned of debris but the rollers still don't turn. I noticed an electrical arc when the switch is pressed so the unit is toast.
