SOURCE: heater won't ignite when heater is turn on.

See if the spark will arc across the area where the pilot flame is. It should cross the flame. Adjust the spark if possible.

Display says "CFH" but heatert wont fire up. Just makes a clicking sound

You don't have gas supplied to the heater. It sounds like you have a gas powered unit and the clicking you're hearing is the sparker sparking.

In a typical gas hot water heater, the igniter glows to heat a thermocouple which opens the gas valve. There is no "spark" involved. Depending upon how faint the glow is, the thermocouple may not be heating sufficiently and may have to be replaced.

The capacitor in that unit is for starting the motor that drives the blower fan. It has no impact on the ignition of the gas burner. On the control board, there is a light that should be flashing, can you tell us how many times it is flashing?

Goldair gas heater ignites but when release knob flame dies

i had the same issue. there is a "right way up" safety device right at the bottom, just behind the gas bottle that detects if the heater is standing up and not fallen over. mine is back and plastic with 2 lugs attached to it.
when i replaced my last gas bottle i must have knocked this device and it broke the bottom of this device off, opening the switch from the bottom. the heater now thinks it has fallen over and it wont burn. i used a little heavy tape to fix the device. Device works with a large ball bearing that uses gravity to close a little switch, if the switch is closed then it is the right way up and it will burn, if the switch is open it wont burn.

The electronic ignition on a gas water heater will not heat up and glow red to ignite the gas to heat the water atwood r/v water heater

You won't see any red glow until the burner ignites and burns for a while. Its only an ignitor and flame sensor, not a glow plug style. The ignitor has to provide spark for gas to ignite, then it also senses the flame and keeps gas flow coming. What exactly is happening when you turn it to on?

Burner not igniting. i followed the instructions behind access panel to restart the heater, but still not working. there is no heat. the circular thing is rotating and i can hear clicking sounds whenever...

the burner should have flames in it when lit and the noise you refer to is an electronic ignitor. Check to see that it is about one quarter of an inch from the small pilot burner . These things produce a spark about 15000 degrees but when they start to go bad, they will not produce enough heat for ignition of the gas. make sure the spacing is correct and it is in the path of the fuel. the shield on the burner is where it gets its ground to create the spark
