Question about KitchenAid Kitchen Ranges

Open Question

Kitchenaid ykgst307hb9 Display Panel

I had an issue with F2 error and found my ribbon cable was cracked on the display panel. I Just replaced my display panel yesterday and it worked fine. We had power outages after a storm last night and now the display has no led(lights) working at all. Functionality is still there with beep confirmation on all touchpad buttons and oven will come on but I have no visual indication at all. I tried resetting the power twice and still no luck. Any Ideas?

SOURCE: F1 Error code

i just had this same issues happen after running the self clean cycle. f1 error, fan would come on, fan would turn off. its not the control board, its the temperature probe. I picked up the part for 40 bucks and put it in myself. plugged the stove back in and it was good to go. the old temperature probe's wires melted during self clean. note to self: clean you over the old fashion way with some elbow grease.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid Oven won't work E0 F2 on the control pad

F2-E0 - Shorted Touch Pad (Keypad) - Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure.
Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds.
If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly.

Whirlpool electric range E1 -F2- error code on display

2_10_2013_1_08_28_am.jpg

Taking a Quick Look

The E1 F2 error message indicates the control board thinks the touch panel has been unplugged from the board or it cannot read the switches. After getting access to the panel, you can see if it is indeed still connected to the control board, but when touching buttons on the panel, but if you notice some of them would beep while others do not respond at all, this was an indication that one of the switch matrix lines that run through the ribbon cable is no longer a complete circuit.

How it Works
The panels on these ovens utilize a switching matrix to constantly monitor all the buttons for a key press. By using a matrix for switch input, many buttons can be read by the processor using very few wires. The unfortunate side of a switch matrix is if any one wire becomes damaged, an entire row of switches on the matrix will no longer be usable since they cannot be seen by the control board. Here is the control board to order.

You might be advised to look on EBAY for someone junking one for the parts----I do MFR. warranty work and from most makers it is nearly impossible to get replacement ribbon cables for sets....you sound smart so are aware issue could be inside the display panel as well....

The top display says F2:E1 and the oven won't function. How do I fix this?

This is not exactly a solution, but it does explain what F2:E1 means. According to this page, it is a control panel malfunction. It may be caused by a shorted wire, but it may just be the control panel malfunctioning on its own.

F2:E1

F2-E1 - Touch Pad (Keypad) Cable Unplugged -
Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure.
Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds.
If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly.

It appears your timer/clock has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Kitchenaid microwave oven KBMC140HSO

I started having the same problem with my KBMC140HSSO. You cannot see the error codes without disassembling the control panel (the codes are on another display that covered by the front panel). After doing so I found the error code to be F2, E3 which is "Key held down too long, or key shorted". I am ordering a replacement keypad and will report back if this fixes the problem.
