Control Knobs on Washburn Bantam Series XB 120 Bass Guitar

I have three knobs on a Washburn XB 120 bass guitar that I purchased used. It has 2 single knobs that seem to be individual volume controls for each of the two pick-ups. It has a push/pull/turn knob that when pushed in activates the active preamp and boosts the volume. When it's pulled out it is normal volume. It doesn't appear to be changing anything when you turn it either direction. Does anyone know exactly how these controls should be functioning? I can't find a user manual or wiring diagram anywhere.

SOURCE: Peavey 115 Low hum Low volume from input

The preamp section has a problem. It could be anything in the preamp but is OFTEN the input jack itself. They take a lot of abuse.

Also the insert jack contacts that forward the preamp to the power amp if no external FX are used can go bad.

Additional things are circuit board cracks caused by rough handling and also controls that have had the knobs mashed in which can destroy the potentiometers they are connected to.

Ninety percent of what you want depends on the amp and speaker you are using.

You likely will want a 15 inch speaker in a bass cabinet to start with and a decent midrange driver as well.

No amount of EQ will fix an audio system that just can't put out the bass tones.

SOURCE: Kinda dumb but my razorback has three knobs, tone

It very well may be. Sometimes the volume is arranged so that it will not go clear down... Hey, it saves the manufacturer a lot of calls saying there is no volume by people who forget to turn the volume up.

Will volume and tone knobs for a Gibson fit on a Washburn HB30? Is the shaft and spline the same?

Yes, Some gibson electric's have long shaft pot's, they will still fit but you will need to use another nut to adjust the pot's so they do not stick through the body to far. Knobs should fit unless the old gibson's are solid shaft. Then you will need new knobs. Many guitar parts places on net to order standard pots and even wiring kits. Try Allparts, ,,, Guitar ******, then

My cousin bought a Yamaha bass from a garage sale.Plugged it in,and no sound. Tried the knobs and nothing happened. What could be the problem? Thanks

Replace the battery. The battery is turned on when you plug in the cable, so DO NOT leave cable in when you are not using the guitar.

Use a standard MONO instrument cable NOT a stereo type.

Line 6 Spider III 15W- My Bass and Drive knobs arnt working... my mid and treble seems to be fine plus all my channels and effects but just those two knobs...and its buggin the **** out of me.... any...

resolder the three legs of the pots back down to the pcb. usually the treble feeds the bass, then from bass to mid then to ground. so if treble and mid are working its hard to imagine why the bass wouldnt be working. i would try to resolder, as you might have cold solder joints. keep it unplugged, pull off the knobs, open it up, remove the pcb screws and pull/flip out the pcb and resolder all of the pots.
