Re: projection alignment

This is by far the easiest repair of any TV with a convergence problem.... Replace the CG amp board part# BP95-00142E Both STK's are on the board(no messy soldering),five plug-in connectors, mounted with only one screw away from the chassis in plain view,no alignments necessary - the whole repair takes about 15 mins and the board sells for about $80 !!

Your other model was more than likely a CRT projector where you coulod manually align the Red/Green/Blue guns. The one you have now is more than likely an LCD projector which can't be readily aligned. Sounds like the panel is failing.

My screen has a red tint to it. It used to wear off after the tv was on for awhile but now its red constantly.

It seems the HT Transformer (High Voltage) transformer is unable to supply the desired voltage to the picture tube. It was probably ebbing giving rise to the the red tinge earlier when starting up but easing up as the tube got heated up, however now the voltage has really dropped. Since the tube works by displaying a combination of RGB(red, green & blue) to make up the complete spectrum of displayed colors either the HT transformer &/OR the tube needs to be changed.

Not real colors. maybe no green color

Projection TVs display using three separate color tubes red, green, blue. The less likely scenario is the tubes being out of alignment. Most likely scenario: the green tube is leaking/failing.

Unfortunately, there are many complaints regarding a color tube giving out on these types of TVs.

You should be able to search the internet for instructions on replacing the color tubes.

How can I diagnose the power supply unit in this set? I suspect it is the cause of my problem. Error code 23, screen shrank in and out a couple times and turned off a couple times, now wont come back on....

Hello hellian82,

The problem is the arcing red tube, it can be replaced or rejuvenated by qualified TV technician. The arcing is the result of a spark gap being formed in the picture tube resulting in a short between the HV anode of the tube and ground. Replacement of the tube is preferred, but the tube can be rejuvenated using a CRT rejuvenator.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

I was just given this t.v because friends couldn't figure out what is wrong with itl. The colors don't line up right, looks kinda blurry depending on the lighting of the program being watched. How do i fix...

According to the manual:
1) go to the "TV Main Menu"
2) Select "Screen"
3) Select Adjust Projection TV (obviously only if a projection TV).
This then allows you to adjust the TV's 3-colors. Selecting GREEN CENTERING brings up a control panel that lets you center the green projection tube on the screen. Selecting RED CONVERGENCE or BLUE CONVERGENCE lets you align the Red & Blue projector tubes. Centre the green projector tube 1st. Then adjust the red & blue until the test pattern on the TV screen appers white.
Good Luck!

Green out of alignment on samsung rear projection tv

Hi luke I am in the uk and not familiar with this set is it a three tubed crt television or an lcd projector type .. either way what you are descibing is convergence ( three primary colour guns all pointing at the same spot in a nutshell ) in the case of a crt projection tv three tubes one red one green one blue .. there should be a convergence pattern in the menu to re set the convergence via the remote check the manual . If it isn't adjustable you may have a scan coil fault or a tube ie : green with low emission check the green colour gun transistor and associated circuit for leaky caps resistors that have changed value or transistor leakage .. and don't forget the ever popular dry joints on the scan coil plugs .. hope this helps Vortash

Popping; sparking of Red Projector to metal frame

Sounds like the red CRT has an internal short. Sometimes happens that the picture tubes develop an internal short and cause arcing. I world CAREFULLY disconnect all of the wires to the CRT and see if the arcing goes away. VERY IMPORTANT!!! there is a high voltage wire attached to each pictur tube, usually a red wire that goes to the side of the tube. You can get a shock even if the TV is unplugged, as the tube will hold a charge for years after the power is disconnected. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, DON"T since the shock is powerful enough to stop your heart.
