You do not need a new sound card.
When you plug in the audio cable, can you still here sound coming from the computer speakers?
If so, you are likely using the wrong cable or plugging it into the wrong spot.
If not, you are likely plugging the cable into the wrong spot on your TV.
You can download the user manual here:
http://www.nodevice.com/user_manual/acer/notebooks/aspire_57105310.html , but typically your laptop will have a standard 3.55mm headphone jack on the front, side or back of the machine. From that jack, you should be able to run a cable like this [ http://www.mwave.com/mwave/SKUSearch_v3.asp?px=FO&scriteria=4322980 ] to your RCA in jack on your TV.
...it is possible your TV has more modern inputs like AVI, or HDMI and your laptop does too. Not knowing what sort of Samsung TV you have makes it difficult for me to speculate on what more modern connections might be better.
