Question about Intermatic Hardware & Accessories

Tb178k Panasonic timer

I can't get the timer to switch off, it's always on. I may not have set the override buttons in the right position as I don't have a manual and it's not clear on the timer itself.

Copy following links for TB178 timer:

http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-set-timers.html
The override button is temporary and regular schedule resumes at next tripper. So basically the override can be in any position.
Add a comment and describe timer in detail so identification can be made.

It sounds like you want a programmable timer at night, and simple on-off switch at day.

SOURCE: We've lost the instruction manual

Question posted under Intermatic timer:
Open following link to identify timer and download possible manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html

IF Intermatic timer stopped working because battery failed, then all that's needed is to reprogram current time, because the original timer programs you set are stored inside timer forever until timer is manually reset using reset button.

If you have Intermatic ST01C timer, then open following page for ez instructions:
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html

If you need help programming specific timer, then get as far along in manual as possible, and then add a comment.

If you have different brand timer, than each brand has link that shows on Intermatic page.

SOURCE: I have a intermatic T104m

Hi,
If you are flipping it off manually and it still won't shut off then the contacts are burnt together internally.
This means that you need to change this timer out....
If you switch it with the same timer you will not need to change the whole box... the old board will snap out and the new board will just snap in the old box, making the change out much more simple.

Is my TU 40 defective or did I miss something?

Check your override lever. Move lever to bottom position near the clock symbol to operate timer function.
If override is is in different position, the timer can be ON or OFF.

Tork TU40 wires same as Tork DTU40

There are no dip switches, and timer detects voltage automatically.

Thank you for including model number.
TM01DHBL is typical analog timer with 1/2 hour segments located around edge of dial.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-set-timers.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59366

There are no repairs for defective timer: Here are suggestions.
1) Locally purchased timer has longer warranty period since you can buy same timer later and return defect in new package.
2) Top of timer has slide switch. Most analog timers have 2-or-3 position switch that offers override capability. Set some segments, move slide switch each direction, and then manually rotate timer dial clockwise two full revolutions to watch how lamp turns on-off.
If lamp does not turn on-off with switch in at least one of the slide-switch positions, then timer is suspect.
3) Always a good policy to test outlets with cheap circuit analyzer to check for electrical abnormalities that can affect timer electronics.
Since this is mechanical timer with simple electric clock motor, chances are that reversed polarity will not immediately affect timer.
4) Put timer on a different outlet, controlling a different load, and see if problem is the same.
5) Make sure segments are pulled all the way up.

How do I set my Timer on the Hot Water Tank to give me hot water all the time. The slider has a clock symbol on one side and a beam symbol on the other?

Timer is not identified.
Usually the slide switch is override button.
Clock symbol probably represents timed functions.
Other symbol probably represents 'always ON'
Move switch to both positions and see what happens.

When setting my timers should the manual switch be left in the on or off position?

Either position is fine.
The override is not permanent ON or OFF since it moves back and forth when trippers pass.
The trippers push a lever back and forth that opens and closes electrical circuit.
When the lever moves back and forth, it also clicks the override back and forth with audible sound.
If the timer is ON, you can move the override to OFF.
When the next ON tripper rotates around, it will move the override back to ON.
So the override just temporarily overrides the timer function.

Need to know how to manual over ride intermatic lighting programable timer.

The Intermatic battery-operated timer series override button is either the on-off button or push in the door that acts like a switch and pushes on-off button.
The manual override reverses the programming, and then programming resumes at next set point.
So the override does not disengage timer programming.

I need instructions on how to set my Grasslin Intermatic FM1 STUZH 120 timer

Open following links for analog timer instructions:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-set-timers.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-trippers-and-parts.html#FM

FM1STUZH-120 is 120Volt 24 hour timer with manual override button.
Each tripper-or-pin on timer dial represents 15 minutes.
The timer can be set for several different purposes.
Since the timer has manual override and NO NC terminals, the best way to proceed is to wire your timer, turn power ON, move 10 trippers-or-pins outward, leave rest of pins inward, then manually rotate dial to watch when load turns on-off. Then move override switch to each of 3 positions and repeat same test.
These actions will reveal correct wiring and switch setting for your purpose.

The manual override switch is supposed to snap back and forth each time the trippers move the on-off lever.
If the manual override does not snap back and forth crisp and clean, then tripper might be in the way at that moment.

I have a Woods TM1710 outdoor timer and the instructions are not very clear. First, what is the manual overide switch. Second, what are all the on/off positions on the dial for. Third, which part of the...

Woods timers and manuals
Woods TM1710 shows at page bottom, and does not have online manual that I can find
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html

TH1710 is a promotional timer for outdoor use.
TD series and TM series timers are evidently sold at a price point, and not made with same features as more expensive timers.

That being said, TM1710 has a dial that rotates as time passes.
Poor image quality is hard to make out, but dial looks like 12 hour.
If this is true, then time programs repeat each 12 hours.
Set timer and the lights turn on-off during am hours, and then cycle repeats for pm hours.
Kinda silly to make 12-hour outdoor repeat timer since you want outdoor lights ON during pm but not am. But cheap prices sway we shoppers who later discover a saw horse that is supposed to balance on 2 legs.

To set ON-OFF times, there are segments located around outer edge of dial.
Pull segments up or leave them pushed down to set ON-OFF.
Most timers are OFF during hours when segments are pulled up, and ON when segments down, but this timer may be opposite.

Manual override is button or switch that overrides timer functions and turns light ON full time.
Again poor image quality makes it impossible to see manual override, but it looks like manual override is white button to lower right of dial.
If that button is manual override, then it appears to rotate.
Usually you set override one direction to override, and other direction for timer to operate
