Question about Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Unable to locate water filter cartridge

I am trying to find the filter in this refrigerator but not able to. I moved into this house recently so not sure about any history of the refrigerator. I looked online and according to all sources the filter should be behind the grill in the bottom but when I open it, there is nothing there. Is it possible that the refrigerator has been running without any filter cartridge? Any help would be much appreciated.

hi raj,the first model number you sent wasn't correct it was GD2SHAXLQ and this model does have a water filter but your newer model number you sent ED2CHQXKQ05 doesn't have a filter in the machine, this is an older machine so that doesn't mean there isn't a filter in the water system, with the older machines the filters were added on to the copper line,it could be behind the machine or in the basement, all it is is a filter that you run the copper from the water pipe to the machine and then you would cut the copper tubing either in the basement or behind the machine and just add a nut and ferrell on both ends of the copper where you cut it and screw them onto the water filter,it's called an inline water filter,if you don't have a filter on your line just cut the copper like i said and install the inline water filter into the line where you cut the tubing.i hope this helps and it's always important to send the full model number off of any machine or appliance you're working on.good luck if you need anymore help let me know.

this is the part number for the whirlpool inline water filter 4378411RB home depot has it for like 20 dollars or here at the sears sitehttp://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir... also i haven't installed one of these in a long time and now it says you just cut the copper and push the cut ends onto the filter and that's it,all the new water valves hook up this way now so you don't need the nut and ferrells.good luck

  • Sal DeAngelo Jul 21, 2013

go here this is a better picture and you just cut the copper tubing where you want to install the filter and then just push the copper tubing onto the ends of the filter and that's ithttp://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/W...

it says the filter is down on the bottom just like in this diagram, the model number you sent isn't the full number,if you open the fridge door and look on the right hand wall up near the ceiling there should be a tag there with the full model number,if it's an older unit it could be down near the bottom fridge door hinge, send the number back and i can check it for you.

SOURCE: location ofwater filter(s) whirlpool modeled22dq

Hi, The filter is located behind the kickplate. You can see the handle for the filter in the kick plate. I believe you turn the filter handle Counter clock wise to remove it. It will tke a little bit of force. Yes this filters the water in the door.
Let me know If I canassist you further. Thanks
Vic

Where is the water filter frs24wscb

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand you want to know where the water filter is located on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS24WSCB. The water filter is located in the top back right-hand corner. To change filter follow the instructions below:

It is not necessary to turn the water supply off to change the filter.

1. Set ice maker lever (wire signal arm) to the OFF (up) position.
2. Hold filter cup firmly, and unscrew counter clockwise. (Some water could leak out as you remove cup. This is normal.) Filter cartridge should come down with cup. If cartridge remains in housing, pull down gently, while twisting filter back and forth.
3. Empty cup of any substance.
4. The large o-ring that seals the filter system sets in the o-ring groove down inside the cup. Should the o-ring fall out during filter cartridge replacement, simply place it back in the groove prior to screwing the cup back in place. If the o-ring becomes damaged, you will need to order a new one from the Consumer Assistance Center.
5. Discard old filter cartridge.
6. Remove new filter cartridge from packaging, and install.
7. Place filter cartridge in cup. The end with the small o-ring should be up, out of the cup.
8. Screw cup, with filter, back onto housing. Do Not Use Wrench To Reinstall Cup. Filter cartridge will self-align as cup is tightened. Be sure cup is completely tightened with PureSource Plus Logo facing outward. Do Not Tighten Past Stop.
9. Set ice maker level on the ON (down) position.
10. Check for leaks. Open refrigerator door. Wipe any water drops from the filter cup. Run a glass of water. If there is a leak, unscrew filter cup, and reinsert the filter cartridge. Check placement of large O-ring. Reinstall filter cup, making certain it is tightened completely.
11. To condition filter system and purge air from water line, run several glasses of water through water dispenser. This will also assure that the purest water possible is stored in water tank.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

Frigidaire FRS26HF6BW2 side by side Refrigerator, water out of valve ok with good pressure but no water enters the filter, unable to disconnect water line input to the filter to see if clogged. How to...

The plastic feed line from the inlet valve in the bottom right hand side of the back going up to the top left hand side feeds the filter. You can shut-off the water from the house tap, and then cut the plastic filter feed line in the middle somewhere, and install a john-guess coupling on the inlet valve end of the cut line. Then you can tip that line into a bucket, turn on the water tap and see if water comes out into the bucket, if it does, then proceed to the next step.
Sometimes the filter cartridge has a thin piece of plastic that remains on the cover, obstructing the water inlet ports in the filter housing. Always use a mfg.'s specified filter, not a Chinese "Knock-Off".

My Galaxy side by side refridgerator is leaking from the water filter system. When I removed the water filter the leak stopped. Do I need to replace the filter cartridge or is it something else?

Start with the cartridge. If the cartridge was frozen then you'll more than likely have to change the housing as well. This is only if the filter is on the inside of the machine. If its located underneath then change the filter and just check the lines that go to it by removing the kickpkate and taking a glance

  1. 1. Look for the water filter cartridge. On some refrigerators it is located in the back, upper right corner of the refrigerator compartment. Some refrigerators have it in a tubular-like slot under the door and accessible from outside.
    2. Remove the old cartridge. On the cartridges that are located inside the refrigerator, the cartridge should be slowly turned to the left. Don't pull down on the cartridge. A small amount of water may drip. On the type that are under the door, follow the arrow labeling for the direction to unscrew it. Slide it outside.
    3. To replace a filter, fill the replacement cartridge with water from the tap. This will speed up water flow after installation. Run water from the dispenser for three minutes after replacing a filter to clear the line. Refrigerators with a filter warning light require you to reset the light. Press and hold the Reset Water Filter button to do that.

No Ice or Water

The water inlet solenoid valve orifice may be plugged. Locate the water solenoid valve where you connected the water line to. Shut off the water and then check this orifice and screen.
