Question about Refrigerators
The freezer is building a lot of ice chunks and crystals
Where is the ice,is it on the food and shelves or is it on the back inside wall of the freezer?if it's on the back inside wall of the freezer you have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, heater, timer or board depending on your model number,if it's on the shelves, door and food packages warm air is getting into the freezer somehow either from the door not closing or the door was left open, could have a bad gasket on the door, the ice chute door could be broke and not closing.let me know what you find and the picture shows a side by side but i'll need the model number too,if it's a side by side or freezer on the bottom the model number should be in the fridge section,on the right hand wall up near the ceiling,if the freezer is on top the number should be on the left side wall in the fridge section up near the ceiling.but with this hot wheather we're having if the door was left open this will happen, you can shut down the machine or unplug it,remove the food from the freezer and melt the ice with a hair dryer, don't do this with the machine running because the hot air will cause the same problem, after the ice is melted you can put the food back in and restart it.

It has a defrost problem. Most likely cause would be the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator behind the back panel in the freezer. Next most common would be the defrost timer. Third would be the defrost heater. Let me know if you want to try to test these parts. If so I will need the entire model # from the sticker in the fridge or on older models on a plate at the bottom front below the door.

Opened 3-10 times per day, per week, per month?
There is only one possible source of these ice crystals -- moisture precipitating from the air (condensate) -- this air is coming from outside the freezer. It's either getting in when the freezer is opened or coming in around the gasket.
You might try a very thin coat of vaseline on the gasket to get a better seal.

SOURCE: Freezer compartment ice build-up
too defrost just open the doors for a day with the unit unplugged. as far as why it is frosting up check door seals make sure they are all good and seal it up well and that should take care of it.

Your refrigerator has a defrost drain blockage behind the evaporator in your your freezer compartment. Some models like yours have leak in the turns as the water leaves the freezer. I recommend that you unplug and remove the cover to the evaporator and check the defrost condensate tray below the evaporator. A wet vacuum cleaner and poring a solution with clorox in the drain will help you clean locate the leak and where the blockage may be downline.. I do have the manual on yours and can help you solve this. Some times this is a factory defect and I can help you solve the freezing drain problem. Let me know, Sea Breeze
