Question about Sony KP-57WS500 57" Rear Projection Television
Yes the picture on the tv is pink when it first comes on,then after about 15 to 20 mins later it is alright. What could be causing this and is it worth fixing.Thank You! JS.
If your TV uses CRTs to project an image on the screen, it sounds like either the red one is goofy, or the green and blue CRTs are goofy.
I had a CRT-based Sony RPTV, and had problems with one of the CRTs dying. I had an extended warranty that covered the bill, but the repair tech (who'd actually been to my house for several other issues with this TV) told me that I'd saved a ton of money having that extended warranty (or service contract if you must). He said that replacing the CRT would have been about a $500 or $600 service call.
Frankly, I'd just bag it and get a new TV. I'd look for a store that will cart your old TV away for you because you don't wanna give yourself a hernia lugging that old monster out to the curb.
Not only will the picture be significantly better and brighter, but you can also pick up a TV will all the nifty internet gizmos included.

It sounds like a convergence problem. A fairly common reason for thisproblem is the convergence chips have failed. They are usually referredto as "STK" chips since the model number of these chips start with STK.I will put a link to another part of this site where someone has postedpictures and a link where to get the parts should you decide to fix ityourself. Look at Ecullier2012's posting. Jean's posted site will notfix this problem. Hope this helps you out. Let me know.

Depending on your TV, you may have a Color Temperature (Color Temp) and/or Hue setting in the menu. Use these options to adjust the picture to the setting that best suits your viewing preference.
If your TV has a Color Temp setting, you will normally have the following options to select from:

Thats caused by a convergence failure. The Sony type 1 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com will usually correct that issue the kit contains the components and the CD with repair instructions so you can repair yourself.
