No sound from the lap top

Simple Codec issue, Install and run VLC VideoLAN Official page for VLC media player the Open Source video framework
Once installed right click on the DVD in my computer and select play with..... and choose VLC

There are a few things you can try here. You say sound works when you start your laptop, can you play sound off the Internet, for instance a news clip or youtube video? If so, the problem may be with the media player you are using. There should be a volume control on your media player, in addition to the Windows volume control. You might want to try using a different media player, like musicmatch jukebox or Winamp.

i think so you don't have Adiuo drivers

download VLC player it is best small software it can be run any type of video audio format

If you go here http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. You can download an excellent media player that will play DVDs, and also .mpg, .mpg4, etc

And it is free.

Did you check start->control panel->system->hardware tab-> device manager and see if there are any errors related to your sound drivers? Probably see a yellow exclamation

Have a look at VLC media player at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ It's free and plays pretty much any video format, including DVDs

I have acer lap top of model no. 290E when we play the the song in window player and DVD it wil just ask install sound driver.
