N-400 mouse not working

I have an HP DV7 and so far i have two A4tech mice that don't work on my laptop but work on others. I have tried removing all my previous mouse drivers and installing manually the driver downloaded from their site. I have windows 7 and other mice work fine. Just the A4tech ones. They are detected but don't work. What do i do

    @e-barua tried dl-ing them then it said i had a mouse driver that wasn't updated so i tried downloading and installing, but nothing changed. thanks for the reply though, any other tips?

Check if drivers uptodate. From Driver max or similar get the status of your computer.

This is due to a missing Windows file called input.inf. The solution is as follows:
In Windows XP, you can use the MSCONFIG utility as described in the following steps:

  1. Click Start->Run.
  2. Type msconfig in the Open field, and then click OK.
  3. Click the Expand File button.
  4. Type input.inf in the File to restore box.
  5. Type the path of the Windows XP .cab file where you want to restore the file from in the Restore from box. If you don't know the patch, click the Browse From button to locate the Windows XP .cab file.
    Note: The Windows XP .cab files are stored in the I386 folder on the Windows XP CD.
  6. Type C:\windows\inf\ in the Save file in box. This assumes that Windows XP was installed to the default directory. If Windows was not installed to the default directory, you will need to adjust the path to point to the correct directory.
  7. Click the Expand button.
  8. Click OK. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.
After extracting the file and restarting, try installing the mouse software again. You should no longer see this error message.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Can you please make sure that the usb bluetooth device / receiver is connected to the computer. make sure that the on/off switch of the mouse and keyboard is on. The keyboard and mouse switch is on the bottom. Press it for 15 seconds. The receiver will flashes when connected.You can also refer to the manual below for more info.

You may need to "pair" the mouse with the receiver dongle. Look for a button on each. Press button on the dongle first, then on the mouse.

Mouse not working on desk


There is little you can do other than clean around the sensors, and check the settings in control panel (if on a PC). It sounds like the sensor has lost sensitivity. I assume you have tried it in a different usb port or on another computer in case the voltage is low on your usb port? mice are so cheap it's just not worth repairing.

Hi Martin--

Sorry to hear about your trouble. When I first read your question, I automatically assumed it might have something to do with the mechanism (a latch or otherwise) which would let the computer know that the lid is shut and that it should go ahead and take a nap. While this still might be the case, there are apparently several people with similar problems so I am including a multi-step solution which will hopefully cover your problem.




Step 1:





Change your device settings:





WHY: Some devices are active - such as a wireless mouse, your network, or the HD audio - to wake or appear to prevent sleep mode. This is especially prevalent in regards to people who are always connected to their network since the advent of cable and DSL.





FIX IT:




  1. In the lower left corner of the screen, right-click and select DEVICE MANAGER from the menu


  2. Click the arrow next to the device that needs to be adjusted. Since we\'re not sure which it might be, let\'s try a few of the more obvious solutions:



    buggerou are using a wireless/optical mouse, select MICE AND OTHER POINTING DEVICES

    * If the computer is left connected to the internet connection - or to be safe, if you are using broadband like cable or DSL, select NETWORK ADAPTERS

    * To check the HD audio setting, click SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLERS


  3. Double click the name of the device and a PROPERTIES window will appear.


  4. If the Power Management tab is available, skip this step

    If the Power Management tab is NOT available, click the CHANGE SETTINGS button. The same Properties window opens with Power Management tab available.



    * Note: It may ask for an administrator password; this is normal.


  5. Click the POWER MANAGEMENT tab, and remove the check next to "ALLOW THIS DEVICE TO WAKE THE COMPUTER". I know it sounds tedious, but you may have to do this for each of the three devices I listed above (mice and other pointing devices; network adapters; sound, video and game controllers)


  6. Click OK, close all your windows, and restart the laptop using the windows + C keys which will allow the Charms menu to appear on the right of your screen. Click SETTINGS, then POWER, and finally RESTART


Step 2:






Check your connected devices.





WHY:


Some devices can cause/sleep standby issues. Let\'s check to see if they are causing a problem.





FIX IT:







  1. Disconnect all non-essential connected devices such as your printer, scanner, USB drive, etc.



  2. Restart the computer with only the original mouse, monitor and keyboard connected.





    If the sleep/hibernate issue is solved, one of the connected devices was causing the problem. Replace each device one at a time until you find out which ****** was causing the problem.





Step 3:






Check for problems caused by using a keyboard or mouse in a USB 3.0 port.





WHY:





When using 3.0 ports, some computers dont allow you to put the laptop to sleep using the keyboard or mouse. This usually only occurs on systems using AMD firmware so let\'s check and see if it might be the problem.





FIX IT:







  1. Check the mouse and keyboard connections


  2. If a USB 3.0 port is being used, reconnect the device to a USB 2.0 port.



    If this is the issue, you have two solutions: Avoid using your USB 3.0 ports for your keyboard and/or mouse OR go to the next step...





Step 4:





Since it sounds like the sleep and hibernate modes worked in the past, we can always resort to using System Restore to revert the computer back to a time when the mode worked. Obviously, if the modes have never worked, don\'t follow this step.





You can perform a System Restore from the CONTROL PANEL.

If you are still having issues:




The list of possible reasons is practically infinite. I have listed the most common and their solutions above, but if they are not working, try:

* Disabling screen savers

* Preventing startup programs from opening

* Changing your power settings

* Upgrading the BIOS and keyboard software

My mouse's left button is not working while other button is working


Most USB mice are plug and play, so driver install are automatic. This sounds more like a hardware malfunction. Try plugging the mouse in to a different computer, and if the issue persists, the mouse button is probably physically damaged and it's probably easier to just replace the mouse than trying to fix the broken button mechanism.

I have the same model with the same problem, a friend of mine who is a technician removed the cooler and cleaned it, then with a hot air gun heated the video chip and the computer worked again

My touch pad won't move the page up or down


First, look for an icon called "Synaptics Pointing Device" in the taskbar on the bottom right of your desktop. If it is there, right click it and go to options. From there, there should be an option for "Gestures" which will have an option to allow you to reenable scroll.

If you don't see that icon, you can try going to "Start">"Control Panel">"Mouse" and finding the option there.

If none of that seems to work, go to HP's support site, look up your model number, and download the associated Touchpad Driver.

How will i install my a4tech mouse to my laptop? the mouse that i purchased has no cd to install the program?


Most devices like mice are either recognised right away or when you restart.

Plug in the mouse and restart the computer. It should work.

On my computer I can plug in 2 mice and 2 people can take turns moving the cursor...or fight over it!

Enable bluetooth on both computer and mouse

Search for devices after pressing the small button on the mouse

then the computer will find the mouse then release the press from the mouse

Done.

My a4tech g7630 is not recognized on my msi wind u100 notebook, i plug in the receiver and nothing happens, i know the mouse is fine because it works on my other pc, but nothing on my laptop, i haven't had...


Try installing the latest drivers for your mouse. And make sure the mouse is plugged in before booting yoru laptop, sometimes that can cause an issue.
