Question about Televison & Video

Olevia VCF-42FDV1U Flickering Screen

I received this TV to fix and was told if I could I could keep it. Its a nice 42" 1080P flat screen and I have light experience in fixing small things and know my way around circuits. I'm having an issue where every so often, the screen will go black and I will see flickering lines across the screen every 5 inches or so. This happens once every 5 minutes or so. Occasionally the screen will also get distorted. Most of the time it displays the image perfectly but it has this issue once every 5 minutes or so and has to be turned off and back on to be fixed. I checked a few of the easily visible capacitors for bulges and did not find any. I also uploaded a youtube video of the Issue and the TV here: Any help would be appreciated!

SOURCE: Black flickering sections of the screen

This prolem could be one of two problems, first the inverter board may have bad connections on it, its used to light the lamps in the back of the PDP Panel (SCREEN) second the Digital board may becoming faulty, there may be a faulty IC on the digital board or main system control board.
But first I suggest you take off the back and disconnect all plugs you see and reinsert then firmly to make sure they are on tight.

I've watch your problem on youtube , that problem can be from main board. But to make sure main board problem, you should check without inputs first. Unplug all input (HDMI, Component, AV in, PC).
Than turn on your tv again. If that conditions still appear, i suggest you to call samsung technician to repair it.
Good luck.

Need a repair shop in NY for out of warranty Olevia

Just about any TV repair shop in NY city can fix it for you unless it is under warranty. If it is under warranty, let me know and I will look up an authorized service center for you. But you do not need an authorized service center if it is not under warranty.

"my olevia VCF-42FDV1U got zapped by lightning that hit an exposed cable line outside, now the power light comes on but no picture?

if just only raster then can not get any channel the tuner get bad which some parts get burned. if you don't have an idea how to replaced the parts just leave it to the trained tv technician or service shop.tuner is not too expensive unlike replacing an lcd monitor.

My tv keeps telling me "invalid format". It is a HD tv and everytime that this "invalid format" comes on the screen it skips. How do i fix that?

Okay you need to call the company and they will give you some firmware to download to your TV. Just tell them the same thing you told us about what the TV is doing.

Child hit screen of olevia flat screen and now it has a big x with no color just black

If the screen is damaged then, is not worth fixing. The panel is more than what the TV is worth.

Olevia lt 30 hv

You both need to IMMEDIATELY download your warranty from the Olevia website. Read it completely. If you are still under warranty, then contact them IMMEDIATELY in writing pursuant to the warranty and demand that they fix the TV for free pursuant to the warranty. Do not accept "No" for an answer. Document every communication and contact you make, including date, time, who you spoke with (first and last name and/or employee number), and the content of the communication.

Do not delay on contacting them, because the warranty is controlled by the date you purchased the TV. If it passes, then you are totally screwed. Olevia will ignore you.

Do not buy any Olevia or Syntax products in the future. Tell everyone you know to not buy their products either.
