Question about Breville Die Cast 800ESXL Espresso Machine
On turning on the machine the pump starts as normal but instantly water starts flowing through to the splash tray and does not stop. In a minute or so all the water in the machine is emptied out through the splash tray and the pump keeps going. Anyone experienced this and had it repaired or is it terminal ?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Sounds like a check valve on the pump or the power switch is not operating properly, if off and pump is still working.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Breville
The machine is evidently faulty and must be fixed by a technician.
The job is done cleaning limescale, testing the thermostat (this can cut off brewing process before starting), testing pump by energizing, checking reservoir valve and orifice, and if the rest is OK, finally replacing the control board.
Call Breville at the number listed on the owners manual to get a quote on repair.

SOURCE: bes820 when i connect power
It's a common problem with this family of machines, mine does the same thing from time to time. There is a potential solution posted on this site somewhere, you might find it by searching for Breville 800esxl instead. The same article also appears here if you can't find it, but the format is messed up.
The fix is complicated, and you'd need to be competent with electronics repair, as it involves replacing a faulty zener diode in the controlling circuit board. Also, I'm not sure if it's going to work for the 820, as when I pulled my 820 apart and looked at the circuit board it didn't resemble the one shown in the article. There is a pretty good chance that they share a common component in this zener diode though, judging by the behaviour, so this circuit diagram will help if you want to have a go at fixing it. Replacing the entire control board would probably be achievable if you don't have the skills to replace the diode.
Also, dismantling the 820 will be a different process, which you can find in my other post here.
Personally, I just put up with the problem and turn it off at the wall if it won't *******.
