Touchpad and Control Panel If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad and control panel assembly are probably defective
Touchpad If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad might be at fault. Generally speaking, if the display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad.
User Control and Display Board If the microwave buttons don't work the main control board is most likely defective and will need to be replaced.

I have a GE Spacemaker XL 1800 microwave (6 years old) that wont heat anything. All panel functions work fine. I think it is the magnetron but want to rule out anything else. I have the tech data sheet and...

In a case like this, one should first try to determine if the high voltage transformer is getting 110VAC on its primary terminals when you try to cook.
Please be careful if you decide to check this, and do not attach your meter leads to the high voltage side of the transformer.
Testing the high voltage will require a proper high voltage probe (not a simple multimeter) and I would not recommend it to anyone without experience. The high voltage can be instantly lethal.
It's easier to tell by ear if the high voltage section is getting power. You'll hear a slight thump and hear a slight humming.
We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.
If it's quieter than usual, then it may be as simple as a bad door switch or switch mount, very common issues. See this help file on door switches.
If it's louder than usual, it may be a failed magnetron or a shorted high voltage diode.
See these test links:
http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it is NOT shorted or burned looking, it's probably fine)

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html
(continuity can be good even though mag is bad!)

Once you look all this over, if you're still not sure, or you tend to suspect the magnetron, note that some GE models have a 9-year warranty on the magnetron, some as little as one year.

But it depends on the full model number on the tag in the cooking cavity. That tag will also tell you the manufacture date.

Your owner's manual will tell you what the warranty is.

If for some reason you don't still have your owner's manual, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If it's still under the magnetron warranty, GE will send you the magnetron free to do it yourself. Call them at 888-239-6832.

If it's not under the magnetron warranty, you would have to purchase it yourself.

You can find handy exploded views and order parts by model number
here.
If it's a door switch or mount issue, you would not have to remove the oven from the wall.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
Once you have the controller off, the switches are accessible, and the magnetron should be, too.
If you need to replace the magnetron, you will need to remove the oven from the wall.
If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

How to replace the handle GE microwave spacemaker xl..... thank you

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

GE Spacesaver JVM132K made in November 1993 just died. Made a buzzing sound and went dead. No lights. No camera. No action! Is this fatal?

Buzzing or loud humming is one of the signs the magnetron tube, the microwave source, has gone bad. Since your oven is over 15 years old, this isn't too surprising. It is possible to replace the tube, but it's usually not worth doing. The magnetron is a costly part, and this kind of repair should be left to a professional because of safety concerns. Between part and labor costs, it's often not much more to buy a new oven.

I don't know why my microwaves keep beeping and starts the Exhaust Fan automatically every 5 mins. The display says F-3. Please help me with the problem I'll appreciate.

F-3 is usually for the temperature sensor being faulty. What you need most likely is to replace the temperature sensor. This would explain why your microwave oven exhaust fan keeps going off, because your temperature sensor is telling it that it is overheating even though it isn't.

Turn table on Microwave oven not moving correctly

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPSWi_z7M58

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts for GE models by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
