The cord doesn't retract all the way. It stops with about 3ft. remaining out. Can this be repaired or replaced?

If it is anything like an electrolux there is a coiled spring inside that free wheels around a hub. pulling the cord too far out makes the spring slip on the free spinning hub. you may need to take apart the vac and rewind the spring.

My Miele Carina Vacuum stopped working. Does it have a fuse that can be replaced that could be at fault here?

although it might have an internal fuse on this model, I dont think that will be the problem.

The miele cord rewinder has been known to have a small fault in it where the cord winder that actually retracts the cord onto will come apart from the electrical connection in the cord winder itself.

As most of these units have a 5 year warranty anyway, I suggest that you take it to your nearest miele dealer for a repair/replacement on the cord rewinder.

Good luck.

Electric cord won't retract

Depends on the machine. If its a Sebo K model then usually pulling on the cord will re-automatically retract the cord anyway. Any other brand and it will need to be replaced by a qualified repair.

Cord will not remain OUT..keeps slip-sliding back in

The return is stuck on your cord retractor. Take the machine apart untill you can see the retractor, then there is a button or wire that retracts the cord. If it is stuck in the down possition simply reset it, if it is broke you must replace the complete cord retractor.
