Problem for LG DR-4810 DVD Recorder

My DVD player LG DR165 DVD Recorder is giving me an error.

My dvd player is telling me....

Please select PROGRESIVE SCAN MODE or press stop for 5 Seconds to to go to previouse scan mode.....

This posp up as soon as a movie starts playing even when i switch channels on the DVD player itself???

and on the menu it only has ON or OFF for progresive scan?

What does this mean or is it that the tv is old? I dont know please help!

PROGRESIVE SCAN will only work with an HD TV and it does not work via the scart lead. Select off for it if you have an old TV. If you can't get it to stop coming on by doing what it says to do, then you have an electrical fault on the LG.
PROGRESIVE SCAN itself is a method of getting high quality images on HD TV's via the special sockets at the back of the DVD.
