Sometimes when I'm printing, it will stop printing and show DATA PCL on the screen. I shut it off and back on and it prints garbage.....how can I fix this?? thank you

Try this if connected parallel:

This error may occur if you have a computer with an ECP port in Windows;
INCOMPATIBLE PARALLEL PORT PROTOCOL: During the PLUG n PLAY setup, Windows usually sets the parallel port driver for ECP mode if the computer's hardware port is set for ECP or, in some cases, ECP+EPP. Windows 95 will utilize data compression during ECP data transmission which can cause "garbled information" if the receiving device, such as a printer, is not ECP compatible.

SOLUTION:
Change the Windows Operating System's printer port driver (LPT.VXD) to the standard mode (non-ECP).
Windows XP:
1. Click on "Start", then "Control Panel.
2. Double click on "System:, and click on "Hardware", then click on "Device Manager"
3. Click on "Ports (COM & LPT)" section, and click on "ECP Port".
4. Click on "Driver", then "Update Driver"
5. Click "Install from List or Specific Location (Advanced)", click on "Next"
6. Select "Don't search - I will Choose Driver to Install", click "Next"
7. Select "Show Compatible Hardware"
8. Select "Standard Port" on the left window and "Printer Port" on the right window
9. Click on "Next" and Click on "Finish" and close all windows
10. Reboot/Restart your computer to ensure the changes are activated.

I have an Epson TM88II and it only prints question marks. How can I solve this

??? Assuming using serial port ???
Question marks are substituted for bad data.
Normal reason for this is incorrect Baud rate.

Test:
Power on printer while holding feed button.

Current settings including baud rate will be printed.
Press feed a second time to complete the test print.

Set port to setting specified by printout.

e.g.
(at command line)
mode com1:9600,N,8,1

mode port : baud , parity , data bits , stop bits

I hope this helps

Raw data printed, no formatting

If you create the data file in notepad, you're doing one step too many.

If I print the word HELLO in Notepad or Word, and then send it through the ncielabel drivers, you should get a label with the word Hello.

If I create the datastream with the printer's native language, you'll get all of the raw data because the driver is trying to print exactly what is on your notepad or Word page.

If you want to send raw data to the printer, you do not need to use a driver. Send the data to the IP Address or the Com port in question.

Avery Dennison, the folks that own Monarch/Paxar, have a utility that will allow you to send your notepad file either tcp/ip or through a com port. Go to: http://www.monarch.averydennison.com/support/servdocuments/Software/Toolbox/TBX1D.exe

If you're unable to figure out how to use the Help section to help you send the file through tcp, call 1-800-543-6650, option 7 for their tech support. This number and option is valid as of June, 2010.

Running two Zebra's through Easylabel Platinum

When connecting Easylabel to a Zebra through the RS232 port, it's very important that the serial settings match between Easylabel and the printer. Easylabel defaults to 9600 baud, 8 data bits, none parity. The Zebra defaults to 9600 baud, 7 data bits, and even parity. This mismatch causes the data light to flash but no print.

Change the printer setting to 8 data bits and none for parity and the baud rate can be whatever but make sure they match from Easylabel to the printer.

Hope that helps !

Zebra S4M Printer doesn't print

The fact that the Data message is displayed, means it is 'seeing' something. You may be losing the command character at the beginning that would cause the machine to ignore the rest of your code. If this is the first time you have attempted to use the serial port, you may have a setting incorrectly set. You need to match your Host exactly or the data may be framed incorrectly. The old standard was to send your data 8 bits, 1 stop-bit and no parity. Try Xon-Xoff with hardware handshaking too. I hope this helps.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO ACCESS MY USB PORT CONNECTED TO MY PRIN

You save your data to to the USB 'stick' via your PC's USB port, not the port on the printer. This port is simply for printing information already contained on the stick.

Al-1540 only scans, wont print says-data could not be sent to pri

it seems that the computer was trying to send the data to the printer through the wrong port. i went to the control panel in windows xp, and selected printers and scanners. and added a new printer (manually) as al-1540 cs on usb port 2. it alerted me that the software was not signed, i proceeded anyways. it asked if i wanted to keep the original printer , i said yes. and the test page printed away. so i would suggest people with similar problem to keep adding multiple copies of the printer again and again on usb ports 1,2,3... etc till it prints the test page. use the copy no. indicated in the printed test page to do all your print jobs in the future.

Problem with hp officejet4315v all in one

Hi there check that the data cable hasn't fallen out if not change data cable. If still not working check that you are using the correct port within the driver .
  • Goto Printers and faxes
  • Make sure that the printer states Ready not offline
  • If states offline Right Hand click and select use printer Online
  • If not above right click and select properties
  • Once in properties select Ports from the Tab at the top of the window
  • Make sure that you are using the correct Port i.e. LPT1 or USB that the printer is connected to.
  • If you aren't change the port by clicking the appropriate one or add new port.
  • If you are on the right port try reinstalling the print drivers
I hope this helps you
Thanks J
