Has the mower been used regularly? If so, how well did it run?

The mower runs great when it starts. This started happening last summer. I bought a new battery last year. It has sat a year without starting

Did the mower sit in the cold. If so, it's probably damaged and needs to be replaced. If the battery is allowed to sit in below freezing temps for an extended length it freezes and it won't hold a charge long. Charge it up, use the mower, then remove the black negative cable. If it doesn't go dead then there's a power draw from the mower. If it goes dead, it's the battery.

The mower won't start at all. How can I test the battery to see if it is any good?

Check and see if the battery is actually charged. If the battery sits run down all winter they have a habit of not holding a charge. and needs replacing.

Hi, has your supplier actually tested that the mower is charging? If you have a multimeter check the battery voltage with the mower running at about quarter throttle. It should be higher than 12.7 volts, usually somewhere around 14 volts. If it is not the charging system requires checking. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

Cub cadet 2145 (Onan engine)runs the battery down

One possible problem is the voltage regulator is out. To test this, start the engine and put a d.c. volt meter on the battery, if the voltage readout decreases as the mower runs, replace the regulator

Installing lawn mower battery

I have Yardman, MTD, 13 HP, 38", 6 speed. Put in new spark plug and new battery. Started first time and successive times (2), battery is completely drained. Can be jumped and started and will mow, but when it is shut off, there isn't any battery to restart. What would be draining the battery or not allowing it to recharge????
