SOURCE: i installed a model hd900d

My best advise to you is get the brand name remote for your opener. I know it sounds like a pain but click brands are not super great because there supposed to work for many different kinda. For the most part you can call your local garage door dealer and pick one up for your opener. They may sell you a lift master brand opener which is find sears/liftmaster/chamberlain are all the same. Should only be about 35 bucks if you pick it up

SOURCE: Garage door does not function makes couple of buzzing sounds only

Remove the cover and check out the drive gear. It is white nylon and is probably stripped.

SOURCE: Stanley Garage door opener

First thing to do is check the door springs. Make sure one of them isn't broken. Then release the door from the opener and open and close it manually to check for weight. If a spring is broken and the door is not uncommonly heavy look for a force adjustment on the opener. Increase the force just a bit.

Push open button on wall, light comes on , opener buzzes for a second but door does not open

Try releasing the opener from the door and raising it by hand. If it is heavy you most likely have a broken door spring or a bad drive gear. Remove the cover from the motor unit and it will be obvious if the drive gear is bad.

This web address came from the Chamberlain site. I also needed to relearn my remotes due to a newer car that has a built in garage door opener that needed to be set. I also needed to reset my keypad remote, those instructions I was able to get from the same site. Good Luck

GARAGE DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES ON OWN LT BLINKS SEVERAL TIMES

Anytime a door opens and/or closes by itself I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

This can also interfere with remote controls

HOPE THIS HELPS

Door opens on it own and light blinks

  • Stuck remote control button. Check all remotes. check LED on receiver.
  • Staples around Multi-Function Control Panel bell wire could be cutting into that wire. Remove wires from opener and test. Replace staples causing intermittent short.
  • Multi-Function Control Panel could have sticking door control push bar. Remove wires from control panel and test. Replace control panel if defective.
