If the web camera came with an installation disk, use the disk to install drivers then plug the web camera in a USB port. The computer should recognize it. If it is properly recognized it will work with all applications that support a webcam (Skype, MSN, Google chat..) If it is not recognized and you do not have an installation software, you should go to the manufacturers web site to download appropriate drivers.
click start control panel
administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager scroll down universal
serial bus controllers you should see a yellow question mark? right click to reinstall
drivers make sure the lead/s that
attach to this drive have a secure seating and are not bad/faulty the light on
only tells that its getting power it might not be getting enough power you
might test the lead/s or just replace the cable of
the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that
windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work
fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending
or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable, hope this helps
wipe out the operating system and re-install it. The operating system is Windows XP or Vista ect. Get the disk, make sure you havet he keycode. Put the disk in the cdrom/dvdrom and restart the computer until it recognizes the disk in the drive. Then boot by disk. It will ask you if you want to install the software on the same partician thats already in the laptop - choose yes. you will loose everything in your laptop when you install a new operating system. Back up everything you want to save on a disk or other media first.
http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010371.asp get here and download and install all related software with windows7 ..cause in the software you installed the driver is not present..and this is the reason that the camera is not recognized also ..if you have the driver disk ..and it has the driver for windows 7 (or for vista on 32 at least ..) insert the disk ..and the camera ..and go to control panel and run the add new hardware wizard..and try to let it find the driver automatically from the disk .. if it do not find the driver .install all related software from the support site I linked you ..cause it is not specified which one contains the driver and which not ..but I assume that the ones that are made for browsing photos .have the driver inside..
You aren't using the correct install disk . The generic XP install disk can't recognize a SATA disk. You will have to load the appropriate driver during install. Here it is ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32001-32500/sp32492.exe
Or you could create a custom install disk as explained here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Install-Windows-XP-On-SATA-Without-a-Floppy-F6-47807.shtml
Use another computer and goto the Hp support site and download the drivers for your computer and burn them to a disk. iNSERT DISK IN YOURS AND INSTALL DRIVERS,YOU CAN THEN GO ONLINE AND GET ANY OTHER DRIVERS FROM HP YA NEED AND DOWNLOAD DIRECTLY TO YOUR PC.......
You will need to install the SATA drivers for XP. First, download the proper drivers for your SATA controller and put them on a floppy (will properly have to use an external floppy drive). At the beginning of the XP installation you will need to press F6 and install your drivers. Be aware that there are only a few external floppy devices that XP will recognize. (Sony, IBM are two of them).
Thats because windows XP doesn't recognize the SATA controller on the compaq motherboard. Windows XP has known problems like this on certain SATA controllers on certain motherboards and yours happens to be one of them.
They explain in full detail how to make a modified Windows XP installation disk that will recognize the SATA Drivers to your motherboard and will allow you to go thru with the installation. Rate me when you get the chance.
